Insurance companies paid $73 million to the Sandy Hook plaintiffs in 2022 to settle a lawsuit against the gunmaker Remington. The insurers paid this money because the gun manufacturer was bankrupt, and the carriers agreed to hand over the absolute maximum limits of the company's available liability insurance policies to avoid a potentially larger courtroom loss.
It was a SETTLEMENT in which REMINGTON did NOT admit guilt!! Oh and through a BANKRUPTCY COURT, and not something else, ****!!
