HSM Bear Load .45 Colt, 325gr Wide Flat Nose Gas Check ammo 1,155 feet FPS with 963 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
This will stop any two legged or four legged vermin, including a bear.
Out west I load it with the Underwood 200gr hardcast.
I do have a Colt Kodiak but I get faster follow up shots with the Glock and it's lighter. I've put a couple thoudand rounds through it so it's very familiar. I also have a .45/70 in a scabbard on my saddle when on horseback.
