The AR 15 isn't an assault rifle per the military definition. No select fire option.
. Gun control advocates like to blur the lines and try to make the AR 15 out to be an assault rifle when it actually isn't. That's why they came up with calling it an assault weapon. A generic term that can be used for any weapon really.
