Dude, that’s Old Geezer Syndrome.  I listen to stuff from Jimmie Rodgers to today.  There’s been some really corny and drab country over the decades.

It also depends on geography.  I travel a lot.  It is difficult, for example, to consistently find quality country on North Carolina radio.  I pass the state line to Tennessee however, and find thoughtful and talented contemporary country artists on the radio.
