Currently in the US a non immaterial amount of the population are already living in a depression. I like the authors take on the illusion of wealth on paper as that echoes today. Especially in the housing market. A house is worth what someone else will pay for it which is why home sales are the lowest in decades. The entire system is built on no one selling their assets as the pool for real cash does not exist. Bubbles pop when people need cash.

Lack of adversity removes the skills to deal with it. Let's hazard a guess that the wolves waiting to devour whatever the system doesn't will be the Zionist parasites Trump loves his photo ops with, aka Epstein class.

it's different this time. dad went through the depression as an orphan raised by his older sister. he said it was the happiest time of his life growing up because everyone knew they were in it together and helped each other make it through. the people came together. it was hard. he and his brother ended up in the ccc as teenagers. dad signed up for the military as soon as he came of age then ww2 broke out, let me tell you his generation were tougher than nails. they made boomers look weak so you can imagine what genz would look like to them.this time is different. get the **** out of the cities. there are way too many predatory people out there and no jobs.

They were products of functional societies whose institutions were being used to foster national cohesion: their institutions served them, they gave them a pathway and embedded them communally.  Post-Thatcher and Reagan this all changed: institutions exploit people, they serve no real function apart from excluding and making money.  In one word, the change relates to integration.  The post war generation were consistently integrated because their lives were socially embedded because their societies consisted of functioning institutions.  They took over these institutions, acceded to positions via them, then they closed the doors they had come through.
