On September 15, when wolf-hunting season opens in Wyoming, armed men will go into the woods to kill Yellowstone’s oldest intact pack, with a special interest in 1090F, their leader and the oldest wolf in the Park.
This, of course, isn’t hunting as we usually understand it. Neither is it protecting anything; Mollies’ Pack has never seen livestock and never will. They’ve spent their whole lives protected in Yellowstone National Park, but now that they have wandered out of the Park’s invisible boundaries, they will be killed on September 15 in what is in actuality an act of political violence - “owning the libs” by the mass slaughter of a keystone species. It’s hate-based hunting, and it’s madness.
Mollie's Pack have remained intact longer than any other wolf pack in Yellowstone and perhaps the world. Originally called the Crystal Creek Pack and later renamed in honor of Mollie Beattie, the first female director of the USFWS and champion for wolves and wild places, they were one of the original packs brought from Canada to repopulate Yellowstone. It was from this pack that the great Wolf 8 hailed. Later they became the mortal enemies of the Druid Pack when Druid alpha female 40 staged a raid on the Mollies that turned deadly. The resulting war would last for generations.
For years now the Mollies have lived in Pelican Valley in the Park's interior - the most rugged and remote terrain in Yellowstone. Most ungulates don't brave the winter there, so the Mollies have become specialists in hunting bison, the region's most dangerous prey. Generally dark-colored and known for their powerful females, these wolves have grown large and are rarely spotted, as they have traded abundant and easy prey for what, to them, is a greater prize - uncontested territory; freedom from war.
They have been an intact pack for over 25 years.
Is it possible to save them? Please click the link in comments to urge Wyoming’s Fish & Game Commission to close Area 1 to wolf hunting this season so that a crucial American legacy can survive.

Non hunters can go out and make noise fire off noise makers be loud to make the wolves move. Ruin the hunts.
People set up rallies to fight b.s.all the time. Why not ralley at these hunt sites? Actually fight for something with real meaning and satisfaction.
