All the Phd's he knows (if any) must be liberal hacks like himself.
So, he believes them all to be "smart" because of some ability to pass classes and get a grade.
That arrogance seems to be quite a powerful driver in that bubble.
They most likely secretly despise each other but choose to live that lie for their entire lifetime.
All for "the cause"...
