/////It appears our statewide elected officials are confused about what their jobs are. Late Friday, Secretary of State Denny Hoskins and Attorney General Catherine Hanaway appealed the unanimous Missouri Supreme Court decision striking down the gerrymandered congressional districts to the U. S. Supreme Court.
Let me see if I understand this. The attorney general, whose job is to defend Missouri law, is saying if she doesn't like Missouri law, she'll just go over the Supreme Court's head and make it a national case.
As for the secretary of state, instead of following state laws that govern how referendum issues are put on the ballot, he said it was unconstitutional, a decision that was way above his pay grade.
Now that the Missouri Supreme Court, which I believe consists of five Republicans and two Democrats, and is also the body that makes the decisions on what is and what isn't constitutional, makes its decision, Hoskins, whose job is to follow what the Missouri Supreme Court says is constitutional, refuses to accept it.
Someone needs to tell Hoskins and Hanaway that their bosses aren't in the White House.
Their bosses are the ones who will be voting in the referendum in November.
