My understanding is that most—if not all—of the episodes were faked. The perp was actually an actor. The whole series was carefully choreographed and scripted.

Hell, it’s more contrived than ever.  I’m sure all this “reality” crap started out with the “common man.”  The template was probably minimal.  It did not take long for the producers to make it more sophisticated.  Aspiring actors and models took the place of country bumpkins.  The only problem was people like country bumpkins.  So they had mister would be actor spend a few hours on granny’s farm, just so they could say he’s a farm boy.

My GF was actually on one of these shows in Cali.  It’s so contrived.  They bugle blow your *** out of bed at 4am.  They had her wear a ponytail.  Don’t like a ponytail?  Too bad.  You signed a contract.  That’s so some *** stage hand could pull your hair and get your reaction.  The pay is crap.  Even if you win, the odds of getting in the industry and making it are still slim.
