maybe we should play cowboys and ragheads...the nation seems to be getting in the mood for it
I hope when it happens the cowboys have the numbers,  people like Jonathan Turley aren't optimistic about it.

Jonathan Turley’s latest remarks heavily criticize the public education system, specifically targeting what he terms the "education cartel"—a self-perpetuating alliance of teachers' unions and politicians. In his most recent columns and media appearances in October 2026, he argues that this system has prioritized political lobbying over students, leading to a record-low public satisfaction with K-12 education.
His latest arguments focus on three core areas:

1. The Failure of the "Blue-State Model"
In an October 2026 op-ed published across multiple syndicates like The Hill and The Washington Post, Turley highlights that public satisfaction with K-12 schooling has plummeted nearly 20 points since 2024.
  • The "Cartel" Analogy: He compares teachers' unions to oil or drug cartels, claiming they "charge cartel prices while producing diminishing products," essentially watering down educational value while ramping up costs.
  • Misallocated Funds: He points to major cities like Chicago, where schools remain open despite 80% vacancy rates, and notes that the Chicago Teachers Union spent a record $4.2 million on political lobbying while directing less than 18% toward representing teachers.
