It is said that Tyler Robinson used a .30-06. As I have stated many times, I am not knowledgeable about guns. However, I have heard from many people who do know quite a bit that the size of that bullet would have taken Charlie Kirk's head clean off. It is used to hunt elk and bears. What are your thoughts?

@Huey

@Blackvegetable  you don't know **** about anything. So, stay out of this.

Yeah, it is a decent round.  It is basically a 308 bullet with a larger case allowing more powder.  It is used, depending on the round you use, for deer to moose to bear.

I only shot one once.

What would something like that do to a person's head shot from 200 feet away?

I think your query could be more aptly answered by the type of projectile.

I don't pretend to be an expert, though I have fired many rounds thru my 30.06 and did some reloading with different type bullets and powders.

So many factors...Bullet type...full metal jacket vs. soft‑point, etc....Angle of impact...What tissue/bone it strikes...Whether it yaws, fragments, or passes through.....
So, let's recap the Ignorance here...shall we.

It would have taken his head off. These other factors seemingly address how far the pieces of his cranium and brain would have splattered.

The claim that “it couldn’t have been a .30‑06 because it didn’t take his head off” is not supported by physics or forensic reality. And the reporting from multiple outlets confirms that investigators identified a .30‑06 Mauser rifle as the weapon used. A 150gr FMJ might yaw late and pass through cleanly. A 180gr soft‑point might expand early and dump it's energy fast. A 165gr FMJ might yaw unpredictably depending on the angle.  All I am saying is a .30‑06 regardless of grain—does NOT “take someone’s head off.” That’s a movie myth, not real ballistics.
