Scott was my favorite political commentator. He predicted Trump would win the presidency before he even won the 2016 Republican Primary. He spotted Trump's mastery of persuasion. Scott was a trained hypnotist and studied and knew the art of persuasion like few others. I've read all of his books. Totaling more than 10,000 pages. I started following him around 8-10 years ago. He kicked Sam Harris's *** in a debate on Sam's podcast. (And I was fan of Harris at the time. Prior to his TDS stage). I watched his podcast every day and was an original member of his Locals channel. I will miss him greatly.

Thanks for sharing Punch. I share in your grief we lost a literary genius. I had a tiny smidgeon of an idea about all the bio you provide in your OP, but never delved deep. Maybe inmemorial I can find time to see what you learned. I stopped reading books with Netscape 30 years ago. Got into Borum Forums..

Scott Adams, who spoofed office culture with the comic strip "Dilbert," died January 13, 2026, after fighting prostate cancer at the age of 68.

Adams mined his own life experience to create the comic strip that made him famous, working in white-collar roles at Pacific Bell and other businesses. He began drawing "Dilbert" while still holding down office jobs, drawing the strip in the early mornings and hustling to find a venue to publish it.

"Dilbert" was first syndicated in 1989, and office workers identified with the strip's title character, a white-collar engineer who was micromanaged by his boss. By the mid-1990s, it was a pop culture hit, appearing in hundreds of newspapers and spawning dozens of books, an animated sitcom, a board game, and many other products.

The popularity of "Dilbert" abruptly faltered when, in 2022, Adams made inflammatory statements on his "Real Coffee with Scott Adams" podcast, reacting to a poll in which Black participants were asked to respond to the statement "It's okay to be white." He described Black people as a hate group, a statement that led to the cancellation of "Dilbert" by many newspapers and by the company that syndicated the strip. Adams later defended his words, saying he was being hyperbolic. He relaunched "Dilbert" as "Dilbert Reborn" on his own website.
