I am cynical. But seeing Trump appointees make arguments like those **** with my cynicism.

You are correct... and MUCH of it started at DAVOS ! ...Globalism, which is something that Denmark has been an advocate for for DECADES, and one of the reasons they were still "relevant" in the world... was the Demark influenced WEALTHY organizations... like the Bilderberg Society, the Council for Foreign Relations... supported by Cathum House ( a British think tank that had similar beliefs... (i.e. Globalism, Completely Open markets, Multinational Corporations), and the developed countries be DAMNED)... THAT Philosophy has been DYING due to a complete International FAILURE, and THIS YEAR at DAVOS... Donald Trump may have given it the FINAL KICK !!... into the TRASH HEAP of HISTORY !
SO... WHATS it going to be replaced with?... Democratic Nationalism... where Democracies band together to look out for their OWN best interest, but also Individual Democracies looking out for their OWN Citizens in the process... NO Longer will 3rd world countries, who have NEVER established or governed a successful Civilization or Nation... and who rely on LIES, FRAUD and THEFT to survive and "prosper"... and are looking to SUBVERT successful Democracies, with MASSIVE illegal immigration efforts, and to DESTROY and SUBVERT them by ABUSING the kindness of the existing population...
