I just got back from a short trip and my transmission has gone out! Damn! It's a 4I60E trans and when it tries to shift into third gear it just starts revving up! Crap! Looks like that will cost me.

disconnect your car battery fpr a couple of minutes then reconnect it and see if that helps...you would be surprised

My computer controlled trans has the TCM located under the dashboard in a place that is only moderately difficult to get to. I think most cars should be equipped this way.
With the TCM unplugged you should be able to manually shift into all of your gears.
You wont do the trans any harm driving this way.
The TCM gets inputs from a few fairly easily swapped sensors.
Use Google to find a troubleshooting video that matches your car's transmission
Computer controlled transmissions also have internal shift solenoids that work in different combinations to engage the different gears.
To troubleshoot the solenoids they will either read a low ohm value [like 10 or so] or they will not read any continuity at all [infinity]...which means the wiring to the solenoid is either broken or the solenoid itself is burned out.
This **** isn't much different than troubleshooting a Lionel Train problem..you just have to be committed to using the info that's out there for the free knowledge.

Brains understand what being alive does, minds made up after birth pretend nobody real imagines life beyond adapting in plain sight like their collective people do practicing time relativity theory 24/7.
