The US provides approximately $570 million to $685 million annually directly to NATO’s common-funded budgets (covering administrative, military, and infrastructure costs), representing about 16-22% of that specific budget.
However, the US total defense expenditure related to NATO commitments is closer to $900+ billion, representing roughly 62% of all NATO members' combined defense spending
That's right! Time for the rest of NATO to pony up!
Considering the US is the one starting the wars NATO fights in; and
Considering the money from ALL the members goes to the US MIC, strengthening the US as a global superpower; and
Considering NATO is basically a beard for the US empire;
I don't see a problem with those numbers. Do you?
How do YOU think those numbers should run, considering the enormous advantages the US empire reaps from having dozens of client states supporting its MIC at the expense of the ones they would otherwise develop for themselves?
And if we were funding NATO at 100%, we would still not have any adult expectation that we can start wars and expect other nations to run to our aid when things are not so easy as we expected. Such thinking is cartoonish and adolescent, composed of thoughts not fully formed and ideas not fully vetted.
Here is how countries ACTUALLY enter wars: They ask themselves if the war is IN THEIR INTERESTS. Looking at the boondoggle in the strait of hormuz, our NATO allies have decided that dicking around in it is not in their interests.
And let's just set the reocrd strait on what their "help" would do. They do not have ONE THING that they did not get from us - which means that we have more and we have better. Mind you, we are late on our deliveries of the very weapons we want them to deploy over there: interceptors. They have paid for and not received the very items we want to okey-doke them into expending. Every nation on earth has an inherent right to decide what is in its interest.
Perhaps you are asking the wrong question. Perhaps you should ask this: IF EVERY NATO ALLY THAT AMERICA HAS IS TELLING US TO **** OFF, WHAT ARE THEY SEEING THAT I AM MISSING?
You know that Trump is going to "remember this." YOU THINK THEY DON'T? YOU THINK YOU SEE A RESPONSE COMING FROM TRUMP AND THEY DON'T???
This is PRECISELY the time that you should be scratching your head, not running it. You should be asking PRECISELY the question I posed:
IF EVERY NATO ALLY THAT AMERICA HAS IS TELLING US TO **** OFF, WHAT ARE THEY SEEING THAT I AM MISSING?
Answering to that question should be the only cogitation that you put into this topic. Nothing else - just that. Because THAT is your blind spot. There
has to be something they see and you don't. And you should want to know what it is. They are all acting in a way that seems incorrect to you - in a way that appears stupid to you, that appears against their interests, to you. So what are you missing?
