Judge Rudolph Contreras was initially assigned to the case, and he accepted the plea bargain between Flynn and Special Counsel Robert Mueller in December 2017. One week later, Judge Contreras recused himself, and the case was reassigned to Judge Emmet G. Sullivan. Don't leave out what the FBI may have had on his son.Huey » 26 Mar 2026, 10:26 am » wrote: ↑ And the part you always leave out:Flynn initially pleaded guilty but then withdrew that plea, claiming he did not intentionally lie and was misled by his attorneys to enter the guilty plea because prosecutors threatened legal action against his son.Internal emails from Flynn’s first legal team showed this was true—prosecutors informed his legal team that Flynn’s son would be left alone if he signed the guilty plea.

- No Charges: Michael G. Flynn was a subject of the investigation, but he was never charged with any crime.
- Pressure on his Father: Defense attorneys for the elder Michael Flynn later claimed that prosecutors from the Special Counsel's office used the threat of prosecuting his son as leverage to coerce him into a guilty plea for lying to the FBI, a claim which the Justice Department under Attorney General William Barr later cited as a reason for dropping the case against the elder Flynn.
