Despite a sizeable number of Americans expressing financial concerns, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) boasted Tuesday of his plans to eat lobster tails and rib-eye steak this Fourth of July weekend.

“Affordability — what are you talking about?” Nehls told reporter Pablo Manríquez on the Capitol steps, when the latter asked him how House Republicans can convince their constituents they are fighting to make life more affordable.

“Over the fourth, I’m going to get me a couple of big lobster tails, I’m going to get me some nice rib-eyes. I’m going to sit in my backyard with my family [and] my neighbors, and we’re going to be enjoying the fourth, celebrating 250 years, the birthday [of America],” the Texas Republican added

According to our calculations, the math has stopped adding up for this family over the past 18 months. They had a small cushion in 2024. Now they are in the red after covering just the basics, such as housing, an Affordable Care Act marketplace health care plan and day care. The family has over $1,000 less than it did a year and a half ago. Rising costs have more than wiped out any gains from higher wages and recent tax cuts.

This family would have trouble paying for anything beyond the basics — say, a car breaking down or a kid breaking an arm. It could not budget for any of the things that a typical family might hope for: buying a new car, taking a summer vacation or welcoming a third child.

Despite a Supreme Court ruling aimed at reining in executive trade powers, U.S. households are facing a massive spike in trade-related costs.

The average U.S. family is on track to pay more than $2,500 in tariff-related costs this year—a 43% increase from the $1,745 average estimated during the first year of President Donald Trump's second term, according to data recently released by the Joint Economic Committee.

By al means, post a few.  If there are many they should not be hard to find.  Your narratives are not the most honest posts on the forum.

And I see you are going all control freak with the use of PG.  What a **** puss.

1.  No link, comment.

2.  That's a comment on gas prices.

3.  You said many.  That's one. You lied.  And it is not even about the topic.

4.  You can get a lobster tail for 5-6 bucks.  Not that expensive.

5.  There is absolutely NO CONTEXT, real or imagined where you can make me a victim.
