It turns out that we don't care if we win or lose any war. It's about keeping weapon contractors in business. Therefore, war is a product. If we lose, it doesn't matter. If we win, it doesn't matter. The companies we use to manufacture our weapons are not just profitable, they are necessary for their companies survival. If we decreased their sales, then they would probably fall. The US defense system is their primary contract. Their golden egg. War has to last or they fall. 


Here is what will happen to the top weapon contractors, that the US uses, if we decreased our weaponry supply and use. 

• Lockheed Martin: It would be devastated. Most of its business ultimately depends on U.S. defense contracts. Factories would close, tens of thousands could lose their jobs, and the company would probably shrink dramatically or break into smaller aerospace and technology businesses.
• Northrop Grumman: Similar result. Its military aircraft, nuclear systems, missile-defense and space operations rely heavily on government purchasing.
• RTX: Raytheon’s weapons division would contract severely, but RTX would probably survive through Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines and Collins Aerospace.
• Boeing: Its defense division would suffer, but the company could survive through commercial aircraft and aviation services—assuming that side remained healthy.
• L3Harris: It would lose much of its missile-propulsion, communications and military-electronics business and would need major restructuring.

Absolutely maybe. Kind of...but not totally kind of, in a sort of kind of way. So my final answer is: Indisputably disputable. Marginally. 

We need defense obviously. But at the same time it would be nice to use war as a defense, not as a product. Thereby, sacrificing our own for the sake of keeping private companies profitable. 2 more Americans were killed in Iran. We don't need to be there and so far 17 Americans have been killed since then. We would use 45 Tomahawk missiles to destroy a tool shed if it meant for the demand of missiles to go up.
