The major stock market crash associated with the period surrounding Barack Obama’s presidency was actually the culmination of the 2008 Great Recession, which began in December 2007 under President George W. Bush. The market hit its lowest cyclical bottom on March 6, 2009, shortly after Obama took office, before launching into one of the longest bull markets in history.

Obama built that, yes he did.  He fixed what Bush **** up.

I have no idea what kind of derangement brought up Obama. It appears these people pay their bills with percentages, we pay in cash.
Apparently he thinks 8 years of flat is a good thing…

It wasn't "flat", you **** idiot.

It dropped through 2013 and then rose aggressively.

How badly bruised do you and @Fuelman   want to get over this?

The half *** is old news, we are dealing with the orange *** now.

Seems odd to me that someone making a bit of money in one week of the markets sends you into a tizzy and off on a tangent about Obama.

You get some pot laced with something?

The fact is we never saw a $22k increase in one week under Obama.

Guess the Halfrican wasn't that great after all.

You are correct, it is pointless to bring up Obama.

We are well into the 3rd phase of compounding interest and reinvestment. Being aggressive savers for many years made whoever is President irrelevant. All we need is average long term returns to remain fairly stable and money magic happens. That growth will overtake our income soon.

It's a good place to be, and getting there is not rocket science.

Just stop.

From January 2009 to January 2017, the S&P 500 generated a nominal price return of approximately 152.4% (rising from roughly 825 to 2,278). When including reinvested dividends, the total return over this eight-year span increased significantly higher, roughly doubling the price-only performance.

For some, this might be true. Not for us. As a matter of fact our household income skyrocketed. Additionally Mrs. Roshambo made “mad money” in the stock market and other investments. Win win for some, not you, obviously.
JuCo, don’t be bitter. It is what it is.

Yer…. Entertaining and I make you :x . Look at you chasing me like a little puppy begging his master for attention. I should piss on the floor, rub your nose in it. You are Persistent, do better. Remember that.

From January 2009 to January 2017, the S&P 500 delivered a total return of approximately 235% with dividends reinvested. This translates into an annualized growth rate (CAGR) of roughly 16.3%.

    You are a pinhead BV!

Now tell everyone what percentage of investors were participating in a S&P index fund during that time frame. The numbers don't mean everyone was getting those returns.

It currently has just exceeded 50%, 9 years later.

You know as well as I do that professional money managers suck at beating the indices, like 90% failure rate.

I will agree the rich got richer under Obama, but everyone knows taking over in a recession is going to produce better numbers.

Golf clap for Obama!

My first post was talking about the increase in our retirement accounts last week, you turn around and say we did better under Obama. That spastic leap is on you and isn't true.
