Geographically it hasn't changed. Socially manipulated by humans has. It is just a waterway leading between two continents towards the Suez canal created to cut time sailing around Africa between Indian Ocean and the Atlantic via the Mediterranean Sea for the south coast of European countries.

Kind of like the Erie canal linking great lakes to Mississippi river.

I am told we are incapable of parking in a polar Lagrange spot.  We do not have the propulsion tech to achieve the location.
