Slavery is illegal, gender reassignment is not. Why do you hate the law so much?

Alt-right propaganda. Is it dangerous for me to share a trough urinal with a guy who wasn't born that way? **** no. Only the bigots and paranoids care.

The only delusion in this discussion is the paranoid delusion that gender reassignment is a public safety issue. Particularly when asshole trumper partisans like you do not recognize wearing masks, social distancing, and getting the **** vaccination as a public safety issue.

Since everyone has forgotten what today is I will leave you with this as we continue to harbor hate base on skin color and politics:

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

...who, much different from 70% of his evangelical brethren, has managed to hold on to his integrity.
Watching Biden's speech last night and then again today, I was reminded that good governance can be dull. Filled with dry and dusty things like plans, facts, details, knowledge of how government works, intricate assessment of problems and how to fix them.
And good governance lacks things like insulting the people whose votes you need, promising fully developed plans in two weeks for projects upon which you have no intention of spending even five minutes, ad-libs that send a ripple of laughter through your audience and shudders of concern from watching psychiatrists.
Biden did more presidenting in an hour yesterday than Trump did in four years.
Presidenting does not need to be flashy. It does not need to produce goosebumps.
In his good days Biden was never a stemwinder. Young people don't cut class to hear him speak. He rarely transports listeners to the mountaintop. He won't bring tears to your eyes. He might even bore you.
But here's what he will do. He'll put in the work. He will read. He will study. He will know his stuff. He will persuade behind the scenes. He will manage the problem. He will get results. He will empathize. He will care.
And here's what he won't do. He won't golf while hundreds of thousands of Americans die. He won't spend all day obsessing about his image on TV. He won't send his aides out with a plan only to undercut that plan with a tweet an hour later. He won't send loving letters to dictators while alienating our allies. He won't suggest bleach as a solution to a deadly problem. He won't leave office as ignorant as the day he entered. And he won't lead an insurrection against his country.
He will accept his defeats as gracefully as he'll deflect praise to his associates.
Biden won't be flashy. But he will be competent.
He won't thrill. Unless thrill is a vaccine in your arm and more money to your name.
You won't obsess over his every pronouncement. But you will sleep better at night ...

That's because most of the stuff you say is either double-talk, diversion, gibberish, semantic distortion or inane, sexualized insult.  Most of the time you don't make legitimate arguments.

That's why people often don't respond to the posts of omh.   Under those conditions, actual debate is impossible.

THESIS:

"Transgenders" - meaning anyone who claims to identify as female but has the primary sexual characteristics of a male - should be disallowed from showering with, competing against, or otherwise being acknowledged by society as women.

Argument for thesis:

1. Even assuming "real" transgenders are unlikely to sexually offend (I grant no such claim), there is no way of selecting against cis-gender predators, as the definition of transgender is not objective. It is based on reported feelings, which can be fabricated by cis-genders with predatory motives. Men are many times more likely to offend against women sexually than are other women. Some are quite deranged in their need to hurt women. Most sexual predators are male, and most of their victims are women and girls. Allowing men into spaces where women and girls are isolated and vulnerable is a revocation of safety and dignity and privacy rights that women and girls have enjoyed for centuries, and puts women and girls at greater risk of predation.

Moreover, if society passes legislation to protect transgenders from the "discrimination" of other citizens recognizing them by their actual biological sex, it will be a legal offense to even question a man walking into women's facilities - no matter how sketchy (s)he looks. Such laws empower people like Trump and Epstein and Weinstein, by endowing them with a legal right to invade women's spaces - without so much as an obligation to answer questions about their protected (presumed) "disability." Such laws likewise empower frat boys on a dare, and garden variety peeping toms and creeps. No one can prove they don't "feel like a woman - on the inside."

2. On average, men are stronger and quicker and faster than women physically. Second tier male athletes who cannot compete against top tier males are able to beat top tier female athletes due to natural biological advantages. As a result, men are stealing women's university scholarships, and law suits are being filed by some of the victims of these travesties. Meanwhile, the fake women are getting academic scholarships at the expense of the real ones. This sets women back half a century in their fight for equal treatment.

3. Our sports and facilities have throughout our history been SEXUALLY segregated. They still are segregated BY SEX to this day. The argument that one's reported, feelings-based GENDER should change what SEX-segregated facility one accesses or competitions one engages in treats gender as if it were sex.

Liberals: Are gender and sex the same thing? You all keep using them interchangeably, and then chiding us that they are very different things. Pick a position and stick with it. If they are different things, please explain why a mere gender claim should change which sex-segregated facilities or activities one access by legal right.

I think the rightie douchebags were so used to blustering and threatening and living in their infantile fantasy world that they took the fact that most of the country IGNORED their posturing as either weakness or tacit approval.

I genuinely think they expected half the country to rise up AND JOIN THEM, or be so "afraid'" that there would be no resistance.
I think they were appalled and TERRIFIED when they finally woke the sleeping giant, and they saw the tsunami of outright hatred that they received.
No more eye-rolling indulgence - the gloves came off.

Bullies and cowards are always stunned when the person they have been attacking with impunity finally gets fed up and clocks them right in the face.

He backs the Green New Deal.

Texas has sued the U.S. government for ordering a temporary halt to most deportations of undocumented immigrants, the first major lawsuit challenging President Biden’s policies just two days into his term and a likely sign of what’s to come from other Republican-led states.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latime ... f_amp=true

The Biden administration was sued on Jan. 27 over its executive order to halt oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters. The lawsuit (pdf) was filed in the U.S. District Court in Wyoming by the Western Energy Alliance, a group representing fossil fuel producers on federal lands. They say President Joe Biden exceeded his authority with the recent order.“The law is clear. Presidents don’t have authority to ban leasing on public lands. All Americans own the oil and natural gas beneath public lands, and Congress has directed them to be responsibly developed on their behalf,”  Alliance President Kathleen Sgamma said in a statement, according to The Washington Times. “Drying up new leasing puts future development as well as existing projects at risk. President Biden cannot simply ignore laws in effect for over half a century.”

Pollak: 5 Things Trump Did for the Left That They Refused to Thank Him For

President Donald Trump (C) is awarded the Bipartisan Justice Award by Matthew Charles (R), who was released from federal prison through the First Step Act, prior to delivering remarks at the 2019 Second Step Presidential Justice Forum in Columbia, South Carolina on Oct. 25, 2019. JOEL B. POLLAK

President Donald Trump was vilified by the media and the left as a would-be fascist, and a divisive leader. Yet he did things that the left claimed it had wanted for years, and that Democratic presidents had never done.

He did these things because he thought they were in the best interests of the country, but also because he wanted to reach out across party lines. The media never gave him credit — and the left, eager for power above all, refused to acknowledge what he did.

Five major examples:

1. Ending the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and replacing NAFTA. “No TPP” was the rallying cry among supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at the Democratic National Convention in 2016. They were skeptical of free trade in general, but also — like many conservatives — objected to the secrecy of the negotiations. Trump ended it in his first week in office. He also delivered on promises to replace the hated NAFTA agreement with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

2. Criminal Justice Reform. President Trump signed the First Step Act in 2018, expanding opportunities for rehabilitation and ending the “three strikes” provision. Though the legislation was bipartisan, it was spearheaded by the White House. (When Trump won an award for his efforts from a bipartisan black group, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) vowed to boycott it.) Trump also pardoned the late heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson, who had been convicted for violating a racist law.

3. Ending wars in the Middle East. President Trump defeated the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) and killed terrorist leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. He killed terrorist General Qasem Soleimani in Iraq. He launched air strikes against Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad for using chemical weapons. But he called off air strikes that would have led to war with Iran, and brought U.S. troops home. Ironically, the left campaigned again the first president in 40 years not to launch a war in the Middle East.

4. Lowest black poverty and unemployment rates ever. Trump achieved the lowest black poverty and unemployment rates ever recorded. He did it with targeted policies like Opportunity Zones, and also broader policies such as focusing on rapid economic growth. He also helped black Americans by enforcing immigration laws, which cut unfair competition for entry-level jobs. Other minority groups saw similar benefits. Trump took pride in these achievements, yet the left called him racist.

5. Elevating women and minorities. Trump’s media team was led entirely by women. He named the first openly gay Cabinet member, in Richard Grenell. He named the first black chief of a military service branch, appointing Gen. Charles Q. Brown to lead the Air Force. And he also nominated Lorna M. Mahlock as the first black female brigadier general in the Marines. As the media praises Joe Biden for his diverse appointees, Trump’s “firsts” have been almost completely ignored.
