You are obviously a **** who doesn't have a clue what US college students who have been under the yoke of blood sucking loan service companies while they work and make their loan payments, go through with these loan vampires. They see their loan paper sold to a different pack of vampires three times a year...being charged interest rates that at one time, not so long ago in this country's history, were felonius violations of usury laws. And what do these former university students know? I would say this was a masterpiece by clint eastwood...and it also expresses how much our society has changed.
the name naturally comes from biblical prophecy....the pale horse heralds the final struggle of god against satan. Clint Eastwood himself plays the tool of god's divine intervention...he appears to be an answer to a prayer of a 14 year old girl whose dog was killed by the 'bad guys'.
one of the nice things about this 'western' is that it does tip its hat to something closer to the reality of the original settlers in the west: the fact they were deeply religious. This never seems to be portrayed in normal westerns...but the fact is that people in the old west were deep believers in god, divine intervention, and perhaps witchcraft. That actually makes them a lot more fascinating than the typical western which portrays them as some sort of post modern nihilistic thugs.
the 'bad guys' in the movie are in fact industrialist capitalists. They are the nihilistic ones. carpet baggers...as we southerners used to call them during reconstruction. That also is closer to the truth of the history of this country...in contrast to mainstream boomer narrative: that capitalism was some sort of high virtue in the history of this country. Think about it: the first settlers were religious pilgrims wanting to construct a more deeply religious society than they could ever have in europe in the 1600s. They burned witches. How could they ever imagine their society would be transformed into the nihilistic late stage capitalist society we have today?
The movie also makes an important point about leadership: clint eastwood first arrives as a preacher. The main villian explicitly says that he would have preferred a gunslinger to a preacher...because you can simply kill a gunslinger. A preacher, however, can give the people hope. And the people drastically outnumber the industrialists and they could seize power at any time, if only they had the inspiration. They are only oppressed because they are meek and afraid (a common problem among christians i must say)...and i suppose they also suffer from the typical prisoners dilemma. Nobody wants to be the first to resist because of course you will get killed and there is no guarantee that the rest of the people will support you. Clint therefore serves this purpose of giving the people hope and making them more bold...and that is what a good leader does. When one of the people, Hull, declare their intention to fight, clint is no longer a preacher...he then transforms into the avenging angel role.
the rest of the movie is just standard western shooting stuff...and naturally the good guys win. Clint then leaves town and returns back to heaven.
anyway, it is an intellectually interesting movie. Do recommend.

A polity cannot continue to exist if it lacks obedience from soldiers willing to kill or die for it. That is the very heart of politics. And the most direct reason the ussr fell apart is because soldiers lost obedience...so okay...how did it get there?
First of all..no it had little or nothing to do with 'socialism.' It isn't because soldiers desperately wanted American fashion products. Economic issues were not listed as major grievances against the ussr by its constituent states.
As you can see from the facts,, the problem was nationalism.. starting eith Estonia which...when that failed to be crushed by the state, caused a chain reaction among other ethnic groups...Lithuanian, Ukrainian, etc.
you see...early bolshevism tried to sell itsself as an 'international' movement. You are not Estonian you are a worker. You are not Ukrainian you are a worker. Etc. By the removal of distinct national identities the bolsheviks could hope for total world domination (in contrast to fascism which, because it seeks to accent the national identity, can only occupy land where those people live)
unfortunately, uniting people under the fake and ideological 'worker' identity simply did not work. Because it is fake. You fail to produce good soldiers or good workers and nothing works at all when people are supposed to be obedient to a fake identity...the identity of nation with its unique histories, language, and culture simply cuts too deep. Therefore Stalin decided to try convincing all the various ethnicities within the ussr that they are Russian.

the problem is...Estonians are not Russian. Hitler could annex Austria because Austrians actually are basically just German. But Estonians...and certainly not poles....are nothing like Russians.
Therefore diversity caused the collapse of the ussr...just like diversity caused the collapse of the western Roman empire (because visigoths simply were not roman)

there is no political philosophy that is 100% wrong. They all contain a grain of truth...they HAVE to, or they wouldnt be persuasive.
What marxists get correct is that there IS a serious threat of private ('bourgeois') power.
state power is the only thing that even has the potential to defy money power. And that is the purpose of a state in the first place: to protect the people it represents from organizations stronger than they are. Not all states successfully DO THAT (ours does not)...but that is their PRIMARY purpose. No doubt. Any state that fails is illegitimate.
the fact the USA is so vulnerable to attack from money and an entrenched cooperate minority is made clear by looking at the history of the italian mafia. They were even able to enter the political circle...for example mayor of providence rhode island.
If the mafia could do that...made up of bootstrapping poor italians who were just engaged in semi organized criminal profits...just imagine what an entrenched ethnocentric people who had overwhelming control over banks and the media could accomplish? (did accomplish).
In contrast...if the USA were ruled by a queen isabella...neither the mafia nor any other private power could have ever acquired much power. Queen isabella would be very illiberal, of course...but then so is mafia power...so the idea you have a better choice is just an illusion.

The idea that Socialists want free stuff is the great lie of capitalism.
What Socialists want is for the fruits of the people's labor to be distributed equitably, rather than allowing ten old men to hoard half of the planet's wealth and control over half of its assets.

in contrast, you will find it difficult to find a Jew who has a similar sort of internalized romance with the medieval period...for them it was a time of persecution and oppression. It was an evolutionary mismatch for them...whereas modernity suits them better.
I think it will be difficult, therefore, for jews to create a movie about the medieval period without turning it into a sort of self-mockery. Even if subconsciously, they will sabotage the project itself...to 'punish' the people who feel an innate love of the period.
