the gaslighting is by design.  The owners of the country know that people do not think, and they treat politics like a team sport, only rooting for the “home team”.  Hence they craft confusing political platforms for the candidates whom they bribe.

the mega donors do this for their own amusement, laughing at the gullible peasants.

so called environmentalists shop online, causing high carbon emissions during long range shipping of clothes, coffee makers etc.  so called “law and order” candidates will be pro life, knowing that unwanted babies will make up the majority of criminals in 2 decades.  “Patriots” would rather send $billions to foriegners than spend a dollar helping Americans.  The contradictions are endless.

my worldview is consistent and logical, and I won’t betray my principals to fit in with a team.

Great civil and intellectually astute reply. Damning.

Nothing really scares me much these days. Not like you appear to be anyway, Intenso the Quaky.

I learned lots of history when I was a kid.
Acting like slavery is THE ONLY THING IN THE UNIVERSE THAT MATTERS wasn't one of them.
And pretending "reparations by people that weren't at the scene" is equally important? Nope.
Didn't learn that either.

I did find out that judging people for who they are, character, associations, smarts, etc. was the right way.
Only been fooled a few times in my life. Some white, some . . . whatever you call them, Ikey.
Judging by your general demeanor, you most likely call them low names behind their backs then
sucking their dicks to over-compensate for your latent racism.

Go **** yourself, phony.

The pertinent questions regarding paying student debt are, first, HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? How is it remotely possible that it costs so much for an education - or getting one pays so little dividends - that the debt from that education is impossible to pay? And what are we going to DO, to avoid this embarrassment to our system of higher education in the future? How will we reform higher education so that this becomes a one-off, rather than a regular thing?

So along with the question of WHETHER we should, we have to ask the question of why and how.
reform should include 2 things (at least)

1.  Make student loans dischargable in bankruptcy, like any other debt.  This would prevent lenders from bundling bad debt and reselling it (which creates horrible economic problems).  Lenders would think twice before approving student loans, they might make an effort to put pressure on universities to teach MARKETABLE SKILLS.  Indistinguishable debts are akin to slavery.

2.  Schools should be forced to offer courses and study majors that are useful to society.  This is easily traced by what occupations are projected to see job growth.  Data analysts for example, take high level math and statistical courses.  Chemists and pharmacists are needed.  Gender studies majors are NOT NEEDED, and no bank should be loaning students money to take **** courses.

bumbling brandon and the dem continue to bring us an inflation rate over 8%
That makes 7 consecutive months the dems have produce inflation over 8%

Let's recap the dem working on inflation.
About a year ago after $4.1 Trillion American Rescue Plan, the dem were wanting to spend $2.4 trillion for Build Back Better.  The dems found some Nobel Economists that informed us inflation was not coming and not to worry about it ...
DEMS LIED

Then the inflation was Transitory ... so the Fed did nothing about combating inflation which allow inflation to continue.  Almost all tine financial organization, newspapers, and the American Citizen knew inflation was not transitory ... but the press (as usual) cover the lie
 DEMS LIED ABOUT INFLATION AGAIN

brandon say inflation is worse everywhere but here.  The truth is inflation is lower in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
DEMS LIED AGAIN

brandon says I am doing everything I can to bring gas prices down... Hogwash.  I do not think anyone believe this statement.  The truth is the Institute for Energy Research has identified 100 separate Executive Orders, regulations, and laws that have impleaded oil and gas production and have raised prices at the pump.

wages are rising for workers... Just another stupid brand statement ... With 8% inflation, wages are shrinking.

Inflation is caused by the Russian invasion .. Not true, Jan.2022 inflation was around 7,5% --A month later the Russia invasion began.  The invasion didn't help but was not the cause of the US Inflation.  The US inflation was and is caused by brandon's run-a-way spending and debt ... almost none of it paid for.

Runaway inflation is a prosperity killer, and it’s also a killer of political careers. If Biden doesn’t believe that, he should just look to the fate of Jimmy Carter.

medieval Europe was able to provide hammer pounders with health care, their own house, and enough resources to raise a family.

We can't.

Back to Reagan just for a moment.

A few thoughts occur to me that haven't been discussed.

First, unemployment. Lots of numbers floating about but little comment on the fact that Reagan actually changed the way unemployment was counted (in a way that still helps out today's President, ironically).

Second, stagflation. Volcker (and Carter) can be argued to have most of the credit for solving that, by limiting the money supply and easing the pricing of oil. This is if you accept that it was driven by oil price hikes and an expansionary monetary policy under Nixon, which many do.

Third, Reagan benefited from a weak dollar (I recall getting two dollars for a pound in the 80s) and an oil glut (and reduced oil prices - under $30 a barrel).

Fourth, far from a reduced government, Reagan ended up with more government employees. The military spending increases (up 60%?) are indeed pumped into the economy via people's salaries.

Fifth, if this was all a necessary expenditure to end the Soviet Union, why was Reagan so keen on holding talks of disarmament and detente?

This is a guy who won the presidency with 50.7% of the vote. After he had struck a deal with the Iranians NOT to release hostages under Carter - offering arms to pay for their help. Sure enough, as soon as he got in - hey presto - hostages released!

He certainly left a legacy. A bit like Thatcher did over here. And people feel strongly about him, one way or the other.

I do think, however, that he failed to walk on water. He did some good things and some bad things. Mostly, I think he was a force for the worse and I track the death of the USA I remember being so fond of as a child, growing up, to him.

YMMV.
