An Update About CBO's Projections of the Budgetary Effects of TariffsPosted by Phill Swagel on August 22, 2025

We estimate that the changes in tariffs, both by the United States and its trading partners, will reduce the size of the U.S. economy. That reduction in output reflects both negative and positive effects: the negative effects of higher tariffs through channels such as reduced investment and productivity, and the positive effects of additional revenues from tariffs on U.S. imports, which would reduce federal borrowing and increase the funds available for private investment.

The increases in tariffs will make consumer goods and capital goods (the physical assets that businesses use to produce goods and services) more expensive, which will reduce the purchasing power of U.S. consumers and businesses. Those increases in costs will put temporary upward pressure on inflation.
The most accurate predictions in the world are virtually worthless right now, and you're obviously too dumb to understand that.

Do YOU know what the final tariff and the final devaluation of the Yuan is going to be when China finally makes a trade deal with Trump?  No?
Well, then how about the remaining 50 or more countries that Trump will still be adding tariffs to.  Do you have any idea what the tariff amount will be, on which products it will be placed on, or how any of those countries will react to either absorb or pay the tariff or retaliate with an attempt to add reciprocal tariffs on the US?
No?
How about the number of new jobs that will be needed to man the businesses that are either relocating here or transferring the manufacturing of some of their products to be made in the US instead of China, India, or Europe?  Any idea how much THAT will add to the US economy?  No?
Well, surely then you must know how many jobs will be taken by American citizens as Trump deports tens of thousands of illegals who are currently holding jobs and getting paid in cash from unscrupulous employers, don't you?  Also no?
Then what about the windfall of the rebate Trump has spoken about providing to the country, or the affect that lower gas prices or the reduction of interest rates that are sure to change over the next few months?  Still "no", huh?
Think maybe the next budget that will be worked on shortly will contain tens or even hundreds of billions worth of new spending cuts that might drastically affect the economy?  You don't have a clue there either, do you Eggplant?

But you stupidly think that ANY projection of our economy is worth the paper is printed on now, simply because you're dumb enough to think phony stories like this one you posted are going to hurt Trump, when his approval rating has been steadily improving lately, don't you?

Keep trying, blockhead!  Your efforts have already done such good for your crumbling party so far, haven't they?

President Trump made his demands to Brazil very clear: Drop the charges against former President Jair Bolsonaro of attempting a coup.

To show he was serious, he hit Brazil with punishing tariffs, launched a trade investigation and imposed some of the most severe sanctions at his disposal against the Supreme Court justice overseeing the case.

Brazil responded on Thursday by convicting Mr. Bolsonaro anyway, sentencing him to more than 27 years in prison for overseeing a failed plot to stay in power after losing the 2022 elections.

;)
This is funny stuff. At least from afar...

We had the same thing here. Calling ourselves a "banana republic" and everything.
Biden was Maduro corrupt. Cities are now Venezuela ****.

Heaven forbid Trump tries to get out of the banana business.
But Brazil -Venezuela- whatever...   27 years for a political opponent...  South Americans are a caution.

We don't jail our crooks. Just social-media them for a few months.

Both lies!  Show me a peaceful citizen that's been "trampled" by ICE.
If you join a terrorist organization like Antifa, you may be subject to arrest depending on your actions, not your beliefs.  And that's the fact since Antifa has been declared a terrorist organization by the President, as he promised he would do if he was elected.  And since he DID win the election in a landslide, he's able to keep that promise since his election was granted by the majority of the country in both the popular as well as the electoral vote.

You don't like it?  Too **** bad!  You shouldn't have continued to support a party that took away your right to vote on the candidate of your choice!  But apparently, you prefer and enjoy being their DNC puppet and allow your party to pull your strings in whichever direction they please!  And they currently are pleased to accept the support of the Communist party, the Socialist party, and foreign billionaire agitators who hate this country like George Soros!  Do you think Republicans liked it when Obama was giving guns to Mexican drug lords or when Biden ignored our immigration laws and welcomed in millions of illegals and forced you and I to pay for their food, their housing, their hotel rooms, their smartphones, their travel anywhere they wanted to go, their free healthcare, their free education, or their free debit cards?  WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU LOST IN A LANDSLIDE, you **** moron?

BECAUSE climate change has not caused more hurricanes overall—despite what headlines suggest.  Scientific Evidence That Refutes “More Hurricanes” Claims
  • NOAA (2023): “There is no strong evidence of increasing hurricane frequency due to climate change.” Their data shows no upward trend in the number of hurricanes making landfall in the U.S. since 1900.
  • Nature Geoscience (2022): Found that global tropical cyclone frequency has decreased over the past four decades, even as intensity rose slightly.
  • IPCC Sixth Assessment Report: Admits low confidence in any observed increase in hurricane frequency globally. They emphasize that storm intensity and rainfall are more affected than storm count.
  • Dr. Roger Pielke Jr. (University of Colorado): “There is no detectable increase in hurricane landfalls in the U.S. over the past century.” He’s one of the most cited experts on disaster trends.
What’s Actually Changing (And Why It’s Misleading)
  • Detection bias: Satellites now catch weak storms that would’ve gone unnoticed decades ago. So it looks like more storms, but it’s just better surveillance.
  • Urban expansion: More people and property in coastal zones = higher damage costs. That’s not more storms—it’s more exposure.
  • Media framing: Headlines often conflate intensity with frequency. Stronger ≠ more.

The claim that climate change is causing more hurricanes is not backed by long-term data. It’s a distortion of the real issue: storm intensity and rainfall are increasing, but storm frequency is not. The “more hurricanes” narrative is a mix of detection bias, media hype, and misinterpreted science.

Believe it or not there were people like you in the 1920’s who thought that Hitler was a Marxist because he dared to speak bad words about capitalism and the greedy short-sighted employers who cared about nothing other than their quarterly profit margins.

Ah yes, Hitler, promising socialism and delivering totalitarianism...where have I seen that before? Oh, yeah, it happens every time

That’s a lie. He promised National Socialism and he delivered National Socialism while he did not inhibit individual success and achievement within his beloved Germany.

Hitler strongly encouraged individual Germans to make great contributions for the good of the German people and NOT for selfish material gain.

"Surplus value" is another debunked economic term that socialists use to attack entrepreneurs whenever they actually turn a profit.

Are the workers going to pay out of their pockets when the business finishes in the red at the end of the year? Yeah, I didn't think so.

On the contrary you cannot “debunk” the fact of surplus value. These “entrepreneurs” can only profit from the surplus value that’s extracted from workers including illegal workers who flooded into the United States during the Biden regime.

Workers are essential to any society however what’s not essential are the leeches who exploit them for material gain. The profit motive should be uprooted and it should be replaced with ideals of racial homogeneity and National Socialism

The only reason you’re typing on this website is because of Capitalism, Komrade.

Communism is when Jewish gangsters take over your government and then your economy

Capitalism is when Jewish gangsters take over your economy and then your government

Fascism is what Jewish gangsters scream when you interfere with their takeover attempts

If you believe we are “better” today in technological terms because of and not in spite of capitalism then you are very deeply mistaken.

How are those Indian H-1B tech wizards working out?

The concept of escalation is a factor. Also subjective.

But if the needle on the "Who Started It Meter" means anything,
the judge usually sides with the cops for good reason: It is a WHO STARTED IT METER.

Cops aren't called to picnics. Something is already going on by the time they get there.
I am not saying they don't **** up but in an escalating situation the "excessive force whine" is overused.

ICE plans $100 million ‘wartime recruitment’ push targeting gun shows, military fans for hires
Oh no, ICE is hiring qualified people for a job that actually exists. Somebody alert the fainting couches.

It’s hilarious watching the liberal **** clutch their pearls the moment ICE tries to hire enough officers to, you know… secure the border. Apparently, the dem plan was for three overworked agents and a Ford Explorer with 280,000 miles to handle the entire southern hemisphere. Image

And the outrage over recruiting at gun shows and military events is peak comedy. Where exactly do people think law‑enforcement‑ready applicants come from — the candle aisle at Whole Foods? Should ICE set up a booth at the pottery barn and hope Karen from yoga class wants to process detainers?

Maybe ICE should go on the web looking for qualified candidates like this **** here.....

This is the first time in years the agency has done something remotely efficient: go where the disciplined, trained, background‑check‑passing adults actually are. But sure, let’s pretend this is some dystopian escalation instead of the bare minimum required to run a federal agency that’s been understaffed since dial‑up internet. If anything, the real scandal is that it took them this long to stop recruiting like it’s 1998.

First off, there isn't a single conservative out of the dozens I know who have EVER even LOOKED at an "influencer's" blog or shared the opinion of one.
Second, influencers didn't even exist before this century, while Carter's failure of an administration ended in 1980 with the completely underwhelming total of 49 electoral votes.

Over the past decade, there have been a little over 20k congressional hearings. The purpose includes anything from governance oversight, national security, to BV embezzling money from his mom's gloryhole business.

The amount of follow up that led to any accountability from these 20k hearings is less than 10.

These hearings are a show for the people. They are used to keep the mass happy. To make them think that the government is indeed for the people. It's for TikTokers and Youtubers to take clips and title them "so and so wipes the floor at the whatever hearing..." etc...It gets clicks, likes, and rage comments. Thousands of them.

Just another example of how useless our government is...and how stupid Americans are.

YOU support a police state … we get it

**** off
I agree. He is a goon and he supports a police state. But how big does that specter loom against the backdrop of the already long extant police state? There's an indistrial-sized barn door through which a truckload of whataboutism has room to do a 3 point turn.

The goons on the left cheered me being denied access to public spaces for refusing an experiment. They agreed with howie stern that I should be denied access to medical care for refusing to be a guinea pig. The left were quiet as church mice as cities burned and a mere **** child was set-up for lynching for the crime of standing up for his community. HIS **** ASSAILANTS WERE THE WITNESSES AGAINST HIM AT TRIAL. Quiet as **** church mice when two lawyers were e-ssassinated and e-lynched for guarding their home from a violent, trespassing, race-baiting mob. NOT so quiet, actually. The left CHEERED the police state, SUPPORTED the police state, DEMANDED the police state and DEFENDED the police state.

And now the billy club is in the other hand.

Trump hasn't burned children to death in a church or anything. Trump isn't a democrat, for **** sake. But there's been some goonery and buffoonery, and the outraged shrieks seem a bit **** late coming.

The sudden, born-again-in-Jesus-and-Freedom sensibilities coming from the left has such a stench of hypocrisy and gaslight that it becomes a thing to be giggled at. One of the cocksuckers on this very board called for my public execution for refusing to vax. Vent your spleen at him for a minute or two. He called for the murder of law abiding citizens. You are incensed at the treatment of people who at least TECHNICALLY broke the **** law. I never broke any **** law, but I was locked down for not lab-ratting, and my speech was suppressed, and my most basic human rights were very openly conspired against - all to the acclaim, applause, and support of people who are suddenly sucking George Washington's dick. Guess they forgot he owned slaves for a minute, when it was convenient.

I just find the outrage about a police state facile and late coming. The political violence and election interference fascism of 2016 and 2020 are not a distant memory to me. Political criminals burning cities and police bowing the knee to them and protecting them, or at minimum ignoring them - a real world political marionette show CLEARLY intended to intimidate undecided voters - is not a distant memory to me. The loss of my freedom of movement and the lived experience of threats against my very life are not a distant memory to me. The very real concern, based on actual news reports and political threats supported by the people cry-babying now, that I might be forced to choose between being a lab rat or being deprived of the right to work, buy, sell, leave my home - that **** LINGERS. I have not got over that ****. And I won't, ever, is my guess.

I have **** to COMPARE this "police state" to, and although I DO see a police state, I DO NOT see something new, as you appear to. I see a police state entering puberty - not the nascent police state you seem to be alarmed by. And I see the *** that I more identify with doing it BACK to the *** that you more identify with. And I have a hard time reminding myself that I am a man of principle. My commitment to principle tends to flicker a tad when I hear outrage coming from the left. Something comes to mind about straining at gnats while swallowing camels. And not one **** thing about the words "what about" feels like a fallacy or a short cut. It feels like if I DON'T yell "what about," my head will explode.

In general, I find police states to be a "bad" thing. But as "bad" things go, I would call the CURRENT police state the best of a bad bunch. It has its **** moments.

Basically that relieves any single president of "ruining the country" economically.

Open borders vs tariffs... which is more destructive?
One will prove to be a permanent and cultural shift.

I mean, you were already counting on the economic devastation in a year or so anyway.
So that's kind of tariff-or-not-it's-going-to-happen, right? Tariffs are meaningless from that point of view.

I vote for the open border 20million or so illegal unwashed wretches being worse in the long run.

Not enough? On top of those^^^ unassimilated add some more:
Legal "refugee" criminals running billions of dollars in grifts . . .
And go ***-up every morning listening to an atonal wailing. Nice.

The IRGC has tightened its grip on Tehran after the death of Ali Khamenei, shifting to a decentralized command structure that empowers mid-ranking officers to launch independent retaliatory strikes.

Remember when Iran launched a wave against israel in answer to the bombing of their embassy in Syria?
Remember how they gave the Israelis the time and date of their intended bombardment - allowing them to be ready?

Yeah. That was a hard recon with strategic purpose. They sent all of their oldest ****, and only a couple of hypersonics. They "got through" against two strategic targets. Everything else was neutralized inbound. They "wasted" about 2 million dollars worth of obsolete drones and missiles. Israel and US spend over a hundred million worth of patriots and other interceptors to thwart the attack. And they gave the Iranians a perfect case study of their capacities, while draining their interceptor inventory on Iran's junk. The good stuff is still in inventory - and Iran's government stands, with the support of her people.

Today, the US military is quietly moving patriots out of south korea for use in israel and perhaps the emirates. The south koreans and japanese are quite put out about it. The retards on this board have listened to Trump's lies about Iran lying in ruins, incapable of making war.

And it never occurs to the **** eaters that if the lie were true, the straight of hormuz would be a highway again instead of a bottleneck.

It is going to be harder and harder for the clowns to keep laughing and high fiving, as the cost of trump's folly begins to be felt. There is nothing that moves by truck or train, nothing that is manufactured, that is not going to shoot up in price, all at once. Add in trump's new taxes on american consumers, and we are going to be feeling it right in the ***.

I never voted for Trump. I voted for his policies - the policies that he promised when he applied for the job my vote and millions of others hired him to do.

I am MAGA.
MTG is MAGA.
Charlie Kirk was MAGA.
Joe Kent is MAGA.
Candace Owens is MAGA.
There are tens of millions of us.

You are a Trumpist - not MAGA. MAGA remembers what Trump promised: Immediate, unredacted release of the epstein files, and no more "policing" the globe - no more middle east adventures.

Trump is an EMPLOYEE. And he lied on his application. And he needs firing.

The democ rats don't police their own. They don't hold them to account. You have that in common with them. You should join MAGA. Otherwise, you're just a clown that Trump can lie to and still get cheers from.

Court is in session.

Prosecution "Eggplant" argues: MAGATs are some of the dumbest rubes and motherfcking imbeciles alive...

1) REtarded c0njobz claimed Biden's "bad policies" caused a rise in energy prices and that Trump would fix this.

2) REtarded c0njobz believed the MAGATs' claim that Harris would be another "neocon / war" president, in contrast to Trump who would actively push for peace.

3) REtarded c0njobz claimed the Orange Sphincter would broker a resolution to Ukraine / Russia

4) REtarded c0njobz believed the Orange Pedo would "create millions of good paying jobs for American citizens," especially in manufacturing

5) REtarded c0njobz believed the Orange "Yam Daddy" secured "trillions upon trillions" (e.g. Arab states supposedly investing $18T) of dollars of foreign investment with his "Art of the Deal[making]"

6) REtarded c0njobz believed the Orange Conman, along with Chancellor Musk, would "greatly reduce the federal budget deficit" via DOGE

--------------------------------------

I would like the Prosecution to provide any addendums (R "Eggplant" calls it his special "Bath salt in a gushing wound"), and for the Defense to specify which one of these points (if any) is factually inaccurate.

If they are unable to refute the majority of these claims then they should accept any consequences...including endless mockery and derision
