Unless you put 4 tines at the end of an AR15 and twist spaghetti around it, its function remains directly related to its design.

It is modified not to CHANGE function, but to limit its full designed functionality.

The effective range of an AR 15 is 400-600 meters which is about 650 yards on the high end.  Many weapons can do that.  Plus, that is a function of the ammo as well . A weapon like my Henry 45 could, in the right hands, do this:
