Most  interesting article  "Yes, Impostor Syndrome Is Real. Here's How to Deal With It"

https://time.com/5312483/how-to-deal-wi ... -syndrome/

It talks about fears of being exposed as a frauds  wide spread (70%) among the so-called high achievers. They say it is a psychiatric condition which needs to be medically treated.

There is a paper  on that in International Journal of Behavioral Science
 The Impostor Phenomenon

The Impostor Phenomenon was identified from clinical observations during
therapeutic  sessions  with  high  achieving  women  by  Dr  Pauline  Clance.
Despite  objective  evidence  of  success,  these  women  had  a  pervasive
psychological  experience  believing  that they  were  intellectual  frauds  and
feared  being  recognised  as  impostors.    They  suffered  from  anxiety,  fear  of
failure  and  dissatisfaction  with  life.    This  article  reviews  definitions  and
characteristics  of  trait  Impostorism,  some  antecedents,  such  as  personality
and  family  achievement  environment  and  psychological  distress  as  a
consequence of Impostorism.

Imagine if Madoff's son who reported his dad and hanged himself afterward realized that he has an impostor syndrome. A treatable psychiatric condition. He could have sought professional medical help and Madoff's firm would be today a respectable financial institution.

No, I haven't. An article suggests to overcome the syndrome it helps "reciting one’s accomplishments in front of a mirror." ( https://hbr.org/2021/02/stop-telling-wo ... r-syndrome )
Is this what she is doing now?

I really doubt that his firm could have ended up respectable. Madoff did more harm than people realize. Whether we like it or not, innocent people who are related or connected to guilty people who did real horrible acts are,  unfortunately, convicted by society as well. It's not fair, but it is what it is.

This is like in the case of apestract artists. They are successful because their paintings are sold for millions. But one can't tell their masterpieces from those produced by animals. Despite that they should internalize their monetary success. And specialists are ready to help them.

This is an obvious null-hypothesis. Remarkably no scientific article on the topic even considers it.

These types of people amaze me... your right!
I think they're so wrapped up in what they are... a woman- and a this and that.. Their minds get confused. The woman in that video has some big head issues. Go about your life-be yourself and don't worry about it. LOL

I think it is something different. It is more like a person with a Stanford PhD in Engineering has to call an electrician to replace an electric switch. This simple task should be well within the qualifications guaranteed by her advanced degree. And so she feels like a fraud.

No !

This person may be just like me  . . .  I know a lot more than just how to replace an electric switch  . . .  and still wouldn't bother for the manual work  . . .  I just pay some guy and he does everything I tell him to do.

And I don't have anything like a Stanford PhD in Engineering or any other degree, for that matter !

I've always followed my instinct !

But it is true that when I was young I did everything myself.

I never ever cared what  "others"  thought of me, though.

I just went my way !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

But it was a different age  . . .  lots of space  . . .  lots more freedoms  . . .  probably half the current human population  . . .  plenty of uncontaminated places  . . .  a happy-go-like  age  . . .  cheerfully unconcerned about the future.

And what about vacuum cleaning cooking or laundry?

And that a lot more that you do know is akin to heterosexual design of solid electrolyte interphase?

It cracks me up.. I never gave a thought about being a woman.. I just was A Cyndi.. always satisfied with that? Never gave it one thought.. Never cared what any man thought about me.. but knowing my limitations.. I knew to call for help with electrical- plumbing and such. I always think of Hooey... Don't try this at home.. before I try being McGyver... I think.
but i've pulled off miracles with a roll of duck tape and some wire
