Perhaps you should replace "inferior" with "bigot" or "racist" in the last sentence.thelion » 14 Feb 2022, 8:00 pm » wrote: ↑ “These are signs of an inferiority complex. “
”I have an inferiority complex?”
”NO complex! You’re inferior!”

Sure you can. Real marble doesn't have a pattern that repeats as this one does.JinnMartini » 14 Feb 2022, 9:16 pm » wrote: ↑ I'd say it's an imitation . . . but one can't really tell by looking at a picture .
The real thing would be needed.

Additionally, the tile layer did a poor job of installation unless it couldn't be avoided. No contractor worth his salt would intentionally place the pattern repeat so close to same tile.
That is what I thought . . . without so many words.Zeets2 » 20 Feb 2022, 1:21 pm » wrote: ↑ Sure you can. Real marble doesn't have a pattern that repeats as this one does.

I suppose that's likely, but depending on the size of the slab, there's usually a noticeable variance in the smallest veins.JinnMartini » 20 Feb 2022, 6:15 pm » wrote: ↑ That is what I thought . . . without so many words.
That is why in my last post I confirmed that it was a fake.
But I must contradict you here . . .
If two slices were cut out of this slab of marble . . . they'd look exactly the same !
I'm not in a position to deny or confirm that.
Can you show a single example?JinnMartini » 20 Feb 2022, 8:27 pm » wrote: ↑But the fact remains that two slices of the same slab would need a deep scrutiny to discern any difference in patterns.
Especially if they were sliced thin, as is the case in marble decorations.
https://www.ibiblio.org/eldritch/ac/jr/174.htm"What nonsense it is!" he said to reassure himself. "You are a teacher, you are working in the noblest of
callings. . . . What need have you of any other world? What rubbish!"
But almost immediately he told himself with conviction that he was not a real teacher, but simply a
government employ, as commonplace and mediocre as the Czech who taught Greek. He had never had a
vocation for teaching, he knew nothing of the theory of teaching, and never had been interested in the
subject; he did not know how to treat children; he did not understand the significance of what he taught,
and perhaps did not teach the right things. Poor Ippolit Ippolititch had been frankly stupid, and all the boys,
as well as his colleagues, knew what he was and what to expect from him; but he, Nikitin, like the Czech,
knew how to conceal his stupidity and cleverly deceived every one by pretending that, thank God, his
teaching was a success. These new ideas frightened Nikitin; he rejected them, called them stupid, and
believed that all this was due to his nerves, that he would laugh at himself.
And he did, in fact, by the morning laugh at himself and call himself an old woman; but it was clear to him
that his peace of mind was lost, perhaps, for ever, and that in that little two-story house happiness was
henceforth impossible for him. He realized that the illusion had evaporated, and that a new life of unrest
and clear sight was beginning which was incompatible with peace and personal happiness.
Next day, which was Sunday, he was at the school chapel, and there met his colleagues and the director. It
seemed to him that they were entirely preoccupied with concealing their ignorance and discontent with life,
and he, too, to conceal his uneasiness, smiled affably and talked of trivialities.

Howard, I'm a parasite. I've been a parasite all my life. You designed my best projects at
Stanton. You designed the first house I ever built. You designed the Cosmo-Slotnick Building.
I have fed on you and on all the men like you who lived before we were born. The men who
designed the Parthenon, the Gothic cathedrals, the first skyscrapers. If they hadn't existed, I
wouldn't have known how to put stone on stone. In the whole of my life, I haven't added a new
doorknob to what men have done before me. I have taken that which was not mine and given
nothing in return. I had nothing to give. This is not an act, Howard, and I'm very conscious of
what I'm saying. And I came here to ask you to save me again. If you wish to throw me out, do
it now."
Roark shook his head slowly, and moved one hand in silent permission to continue.
"I suppose you know that I'm finished as an architect. Oh, not actually finished, but near
enough. Others could go on like this for quite a few years, but I can't, because of what I’ve
been. Or was thought to have been. People don't forgive a man who's slipping. I must live up
to what they thought. I can do it only in the same way I've done everything else in my life. I
need a prestige I don't deserve for an achievement I didn't accomplish to save a name I
haven't earned the right to bear. I've been given a last chance. I know it’s my last chance. I
know I can't do it. I won't try to bring you a mess and ask you to correct it. I'm asking you to
design it and let me put my name on it.

http://ecclesiastes911.net/doctor_fox.htmlForty years ago a singularly interesting lecture was held at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. The subject was "Mathematical Game Theory as Applied to Physician Education." The speaker was Dr. Myron L. Fox from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a pupil of von Neumann and an authority on the application of mathematics to human behavior. The attendees were psychiatrists and psychologists (MDs and PhDs) who were gathered for a training conference. They listened to the lecturer with great interest, asked many questions and were satisfied with speaker's replies. They gave him flying grades in the satisfaction questionnaire. Nobody suspected anything wrong. In reality the speaker was an actor and knew nothing on the subject of his lecture.
