It talks about fears of being exposed as a frauds wide spread (70%) among the so-called high achievers. They say it is a psychiatric condition which needs to be medically treated.
There is a paper on that in International Journal of Behavioral Science

However I think that what they call Impostor Syndrome is in reality conscience.

Trump would have the exact opposite of this if progressives were right about him. Imposter syndrome occurs among competent people who are leaders in their field thinking they know nothing. This happens to doctors and scientists and business experts.

Why do you think so? On the other hand Biden was 76th out of 85 in law school.

I mean you progressives are idiots by calling him an imposter syndrome sufferer. You are basically calling him a competent genius with performance anxiety.
You did not figure out properly who said what and who is who. But most interestingly: what do you understand by performance anxiety?Neo » 12 Jul 2022, 2:56 pm » wrote: ↑ I mean you progressives are idiots by calling him an imposter syndrome sufferer. Pretty familiar with imposter syndrome, have a few friends that have been diagnosed with it. They are competent in their positions, getting various awards for excellence and promoted into management. They feel on some days that they are not qualified for their positions when clearly they are. Progressives, such as yourself, implying Trump suffers from imposter syndrome are unwittingly complimenting the man.dickens » 13 Jul 2022, 12:40 am » wrote: ↑ You did not figure out properly who said what and who is who. I did not say Trump has the syndrome and am not a progressive. And if you read the thread where you are posting you could find many arguments that those who feel to be impostors are actually such.Neo » 13 Jul 2022, 6:42 am » wrote: ↑ Pretty familiar with imposter syndrome, have a few friends that have been diagnosed with it. That is not this syndrome. Apparently you aren't familiar with imposter syndrome. Impostors know they are imposters, this syndrome is labeled a disorder because it impacts qualified individuals. Impostors are just called impostors.dickens » 13 Jul 2022, 2:57 pm » wrote: ↑ I did not say Trump has the syndrome and am not a progressive. The verbiage "impostor syndrome" for those frauds is akin to "partial birth abortion" for infanticide.
Here is an example of such qualified individual:Neo » 13 Jul 2022, 4:51 pm » wrote: ↑ That is not this syndrome. Apparently you aren't familiar with imposter syndrome. From Social sciences as sorcery by Stanislav AndreskiA renowned author would have to have a most extraordinary character … to be able to write prolifically in the full knowledge that his works are worthless and that he is a charlatan whose fame is entirely undeserved and based solely on the stupidity and gullibility of his admires. Even if he had some doubts about the correctness of his approach at some stage of his career, success and adulation would soon persuade him of his own genius and the epoch-making value of his concoctions. When in consequence of acquiring a controlling position in the distribution of funds, appointments and promotions, he becomes surrounded by sycophants courting his favours, he is most unlikely to see through their motivation; and, like wealthy and powerful people in other walks of life, will tend to take flattery at its face value, accepting it as a sincere appreciation (and therefore confirmation)

The futility of life and individual accomplishment is a well explored topic that has little to do with imposter syndrome.dickens » 14 Jul 2022, 2:03 pm » wrote: ↑ Here is an example of such qualified individual:

In the OP one linked article finds Imposter Syndrome more frequent among African Americans. But something tells me that Tyson does not have it. Of course now he is old and a lot of people can beat him. That's called futility of life and individual accomplishment. But, figuratively speaking, when someone similar to Woody Allen is declared a boxing champion he has the syndrome.Neo » 14 Jul 2022, 2:42 pm » wrote: ↑ The futility of life and individual accomplishment is a well explored topic that has little to do with imposter syndrome.
Again your understanding of this syndrome is patently wrong. It's not woody Allen questioning or claiming skill at boxing, it's woody Allen questioning if he is a successful comedian. Even those that find the man a daughter ****, tiresome, unfunny bore can't say the man isn't a successful comedian. If he thought himself unqualified then perhaps he might suffer this disorder. Progressives ignorantly diagnosing Trump with this affliction are humorous. You don't seem willing to educate yourself so, enjoy their company.dickens » 14 Jul 2022, 3:35 pm » wrote: ↑ In the OP one linked article finds Imposter Syndrome more frequent among African Americans. Many modern artists have the syndrome.
You misunderstood my comment and are arguing with your own misunderstanding. What I implied is that some African Americans elevated to high positions, for example in science, through affirmative action initiative look like Woody Allen proclaimed a champion boxer.Neo » 14 Jul 2022, 4:29 pm » wrote: ↑ Again your understanding of this syndrome is patently wrong.
