They are not women but are ***. Similarly syndrome sufferers  are not impostors proper. That is they did not fake their diplomas, like proper impostor do. But what they do can be as well done by a proper impostor.

People often rise to the level of their own incompetence. Not the case with these brilliant ladies. They truly are talented, experienced, and competent.

Rise over level? Sometimes the whole field is fraudulent. One article finds impostor phenomenon widespread among chiropractors. One comment, however, argues that according to Wikipedia chiropractic is based on pseudoscience. That would naturally explain the syndrome.
