- Yum! was created on May 30, 1997, as Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc. from PepsiCo's fast food division as the parent corporation of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant companies. Yum! operates the brands Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and WingStreetworldwide, except in China, where the brands are operated by a separate company, Yum China.

- Pizza Hut has since 1984 promoted books to young readers, rewarding them with a free pizza if they read the books and cash in their school-issue certificates
- Dozens of books are added to the scheme each year, and the latest - to celebrate Pride Month - is a book about a boy dressing up, and a magical wig
- The publishers say the book 'celebrates the universal childhood experience of dressing up and the confidence that comes with putting on a costume'
- Yet some on social media were aghast at the selection, accusing Pizza Hut of indoctrinating their children
