At any time, we can stop building decks on our homes, finishing our basements, making birdnests and feeders, raised gardens - what have you. Timber is not just sustainable in theory - it has been ongoingly stewarded responsibly since the 70s. We're okay - no need to go all simbionese liberation army or ted kuzinski. We even saved the kirtland's warbler.

I am speaking to the meta-demo, using your source. Population growth of 1/2 of 1% is not a thing. The numbers you showed are within the margins of error to make the claim that Earth's human population is neither shrinking nor growing, but completely stabilized. 

I am not making that claim, as I accept your numbers. I am simply pointing out to you that YOUR numbers could be interpreted - given the general rules of statistical analysis - as showing human population stability (zero growth).

This graphic errs in the opposite direction. It is leaving out one **** of a lot of old growth canopy in both slides. 

Okay, I see the issue now. It is only showing Brazil - the most devloped of the Amazonian nations. And it is deceptive. The southeastern area of Brazil is in fact densely forrested with old growth. I know - I've been there, and I have friends who live in Florianopolis and who vacation in the virgin mountain forests several times per year. 

I tell you, of my own personal knowledge, I know your map to be utterly false. It appears that the graphic defines "deforested" as, "has human habitation." And that is a false definition.

Here is a "deforested" area within the very confines of the modern city of Rio. I spent days playing on Vista Chinesa, and I can tell you that the mountain that the Cristo is on is eqully forested. The very minute you leave Rio, you are in the jungle. The map simply does not describe the terriroty in any meaningful way.

That's weird.  I don't know whether to believe the computer program is self aware.  Is it an abortion if you turn it off?  If someone creates a virus that targets and destroys computer programs that believe they are sentient, is that now genocide?

Well sir, as regards VIRGIN forests, you are right. Only 2.4% of europe's forests are virgin old growth forests. The definition of virgin is quite strict - almost on a par with a muslim wedding, except europe's virgin forests have not been repetedly **** in the ss with absolute abandon by uncles, cousins, taxi drivers, elevator operators, hookah peddlers - what have you.

But there are 158 million hectares of FOREST in europe. It's just not virgin forest. Here's link to scientitious proof:

A hectare is pretty much, but it's metric and stuff. I think it means just over 600,000 square miles in white man speak.
