Let's all share some fun facts about ourselves.

1. I am related to the Kennedy's.
2. I can talk backwards.
3. I am a published author.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

Keep it nice please.
No dick swinging or name calling.

1. I served in the US Air Force (part of it during Viet Nam) and the US Navy.
2. I've visited or have seen some of the great historic places on Earth.
3. My ex wife, while we were married, left a house 10 minutes before a plane crashed into it killing 150 people (including the lady and her son that she was visiting) in San Diego in 1978. It was our 7th anniversary.

I took a 65 mph tumble on a two-lane blacktop in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on a 650 Yamaha.
With a dislocated shoulder, concussion and no headlight or instruments, my brother and I finished a the last 8 days of a 9 day camping trip.
I had to lift my throttle hand up with my left hand to get a grip.
Right arm is still **** up today. Useable but I lost a great throwing arm.

I am a bit of an artist. No training except an art class in high school one year.

Was a complete leftie hippie but couldn't stay there...
Always felt something was illogical or immature about that whole pretense.

I am the product of a complete nothing family. More fun talking about that than living it.

Please seat yourself.

Nothing special.

1.  I was just a normal flight crew member on Hueys in the Army.
2.  I have been to 48 states.  Except Maine and Hawaii.  I was a business traveler in the radio industry for years.  I would visit 2, sometimes three cities in a week for 6 to 8 weeks.  Leave on Monday and Return Thurs/Friday. A lot of it was a blur.
3.  Currently working as  Fleet Manager.

I can hold pencils in both hands...and  with both pencils stationed at the middle of a sheet of paper write in cursive frontwards and backwards at the same time.

While on  "Body Escort Detail" from Ft. Carson to JFK airport in 1976 ...I lost the body.

On mom's side of the family she had a nephew who became a MLB Catcher...Jack Hiatt.
He hit his first MLB HR  off of Koufax..!!
Imagine how exciting it was a for a little kid like me to read about Uncle Jack  catching Juan Marichal and  Gaylord Perry... 8-)

I'm in Missoula.   Years ago we played a gig at Big Sky ski resort.  Beautiful area. They provided us with free lodging, meals, skis, and lift tickets.

We also played a dive bar right in Bozeman. I've been to Jackson Hole a few times too...beautiful!

Well I lost the body for about an hour.
My job was to carry paper work back to the dead soldiers parents and to see to it that his coffin was properly loaded onto the plane and delivered to the Funeral Home in upstate NY..
The flight originated at Colorado Springs and stopped in Chicago.
I stayed on board and waited for us to continue on to JFK.
Once we hit the asphalt at JFK my job was to get off the plane and witness the coffin being carried off the plane and into the Funeral Home Hearse.
There was no coffin on that plane...!!
Imagine being in my shoes right then...!
Long story short the Airline Company  took it upon themselves to take the coffin off the plane without telling me and they threw it onto a different plane that was headed to JFK before the plane I was on was due to arrive.
After much frantic searching the coffin was found baking in the sun on the tarmac all by itself and even though I was furious I was also very happy to see it.

My first motorcycle looked just like this one below.  When I was 19, some farmer had it in a barn - low miles, but the tank had a huge dent in it, and it was dirty from being in the barn.  I was able to find a new tank, and then I restored it to pretty much like the one in the photo.  Wish I still had it!!

Very cool!
Uncle Earl was a great guy.
He got that when he was working for Con Ed right out of the military.
He lived in Indiana.

Baseball and softball were my passions as well and didn't stop playing until I hit 58 when my bad hips ended that.  But as a player I won a league MVP award and have several batting title trophies as well as a league Cy Young award for best pitcher in the league and a Gold Glove award to go with a half-dozen league championships.  I even sponsored teams in two leagues with my business and ran them as a player/coach.

Just about every other minute of my early life was dedicated to my businesses from starting a manufacturing plant in 1972 selling products to two different industries, then converting my factory into low-income housing decades later before embarking on a couple of other businesses, one in energy-efficient lighting for commercial businesses that I'm just winding up now in my semi-retirement.  I'm pretty much done with all that now and have time to relax with my rescued pup while my wife of 39 years still enjoys working in education.

Very interesting topic AL, so thank you!

Zeets..
You have lead a most interest life..!
Did you ever play Fast Pitch..?
I never even saw Fast Pitch until I was stationed in Colorado and got my only chance to play it there.
I loved it...a lot of games come down to just 1 swing of the bat in the late innings.
Before playing Fast Pitch I never faced pitching that could make the ball "hop" over my bat......

I played mostly what's called "modified" here rather than fast pitch, which allows windmill-type pitching.  In modified, the pitcher can only bring his arm back as high as his shoulder, but that's still pretty fast.  But I think I enjoyed pitching high-arc the most, which really required a great deal of skill to get a called strike on a 15' arc, which needed to land right behind home plate to be called a strike.  The last day I played at age 58 required me to pitch 3 consecutive games in one day in the playoffs, as our other two pitchers were both away that day.  Won the first two games, then ran out of gas halfway through the last game and lost in the semi-finals.  In my very last at bat, I connected for a double off the best pitcher in the league, the only hit I ever got off him, so that made the end a bit less bitter for me.
Did you only play fast pitch windmill?

I think what we played was "windmill"..but not all pitchers used that delivery.
We had a "low arc" slow pitch league that was really fun.
Imagine playing on a windy night in Colorado at 7000 feet..!!
Bombs Away..!
I tore into an "unlimited flight" softball and found a solid hard plastic sphere. The leather hide was contact cemented to the plastic sphere. These balls travel even better after you remove the leather cover...!
There are baseballs made the same way that I believe are used just  for those Home Run Derbys.

I do have an idea for a book though. I just started doing the research on it.
I am also going to be a guest on a Podcast in a couple weeks.

There is a real life author on this forum. He writes in the horror/fantasy genre.
I have one of his books.
Well, who is he?
