Let's all share some fun facts about ourselves.
1. I am related to the Kennedy's.
2. I can talk backwards.
3. I am a published author.
Feel free to ask me any questions.
Keep it nice please.
No dick swinging or name calling.

While on "Body Escort Detail" from Ft. Carson to JFK airport in 1976 ...I lost the body.

Well I lost the body for about an hour.
Was that an American Airlines flight?Rock » 14 Jun 2022, 9:41 am » wrote: ↑ 3. My ex wife, while we were married, left a house 10 minutes before a plane crashed into it killing 150 people (including the lady and her son that she was visiting) in San Diego in 1978. It was our 7th anniversary.

My job was to carry paper work back to the dead soldiers parents and to see to it that his coffin was properly loaded onto the plane and delivered to the Funeral Home in upstate NY..
The flight originated at Colorado Springs and stopped in Chicago.
I stayed on board and waited for us to continue on to JFK.
Once we hit the asphalt at JFK my job was to get off the plane and witness the coffin being carried off the plane and into the Funeral Home Hearse.
There was no coffin on that plane...!!
Imagine being in my shoes right then...!
Long story short the Airline Company took it upon themselves to take the coffin off the plane without telling me and they threw it onto a different plane that was headed to JFK before the plane I was on was due to arrive.
After much frantic searching the coffin was found baking in the sun on the tarmac all by itself and even though I was furious I was also very happy to see it.
That's amazing you can write like that! I am impressed!GHETTO BLASTER » 14 Jun 2022, 9:54 am » wrote: ↑ I can hold pencils in both hands...and with both pencils stationed at the middle of a sheet of paper write in cursive frontwards and backwards at the same time.

On mom's side of the family she had a nephew who became a MLB Catcher...Jack Hiatt.
He hit his first MLB HR off of Koufax..!!

My first motorcycle looked just like this one below. When I was 19, some farmer had it in a barn - low miles, but the tank had a huge dent in it, and it was dirty from being in the barn. I was able to find a new tank, and then I restored it to pretty much like the one in the photo. Wish I still had it!!
Baseball and softball were my passions as well and didn't stop playing until I hit 58 when my bad hips ended that. But as a player I won a league MVP award and have several batting title trophies as well as a league Cy Young award for best pitcher in the league and a Gold Glove award to go with a half-dozen league championships. I even sponsored teams in two leagues with my business and ran them as a player/coach.GHETTOBLASTER » 14 Jun 2022, 9:54 am » wrote: ↑ I can hold pencils in both hands...and with both pencils stationed at the middle of a sheet of paper write in cursive frontwards and backwards at the same time.

Just about every other minute of my early life was dedicated to my businesses from starting a manufacturing plant in 1972 selling products to two different industries, then converting my factory into low-income housing decades later before embarking on a couple of other businesses, one in energy-efficient lighting for commercial businesses that I'm just winding up now in my semi-retirement. I'm pretty much done with all that now and have time to relax with my rescued pup while my wife of 39 years still enjoys working in education.
Very interesting topic AL, so thank you!
I played mostly what's called "modified" here rather than fast pitch, which allows windmill-type pitching. In modified, the pitcher can only bring his arm back as high as his shoulder, but that's still pretty fast. But I think I enjoyed pitching high-arc the most, which really required a great deal of skill to get a called strike on a 15' arc, which needed to land right behind home plate to be called a strike. The last day I played at age 58 required me to pitch 3 consecutive games in one day in the playoffs, as our other two pitchers were both away that day. Won the first two games, then ran out of gas halfway through the last game and lost in the semi-finals. In my very last at bat, I connected for a double off the best pitcher in the league, the only hit I ever got off him, so that made the end a bit less bitter for me.GHETTOBLASTER » 14 Jun 2022, 10:39 am » wrote: ↑ Zeets..

Did you ever play Fast Pitch..?
I never even saw Fast Pitch until I was stationed in Colorado and got my only chance to play it there.
I loved it...a lot of games come down to just 1 swing of the bat in the late innings.
Before playing Fast Pitch I never faced pitching that could make the ball "hop" over my bat......
I think what we played was "windmill"..but not all pitchers used that delivery.Zeets2 » 14 Jun 2022, 11:03 am » wrote: ↑ I played mostly what's called "modified" here rather than fast pitch, which allows windmill-type pitching. Local newspapers and trade publications.
I do have an idea for a book though. I just started doing the research on it.
I am also going to be a guest on a Podcast in a couple weeks.
There is a real life author on this forum. He writes in the horror/fantasy genre.
I have one of his books.
He can tell you if he wants to.

Always felt something was illogical or immature about that whole pretense.
I am the product of a complete nothing family. More fun talking about that than living it.
