I read one Ayn Rand novel, The Fountainhead. It was not a fun read. I did it for extra credit during senior english but it was mostly will power that got me through that one in a month.

In the early 1980s, it became the first independent labor union in a Soviet-bloc country. The People's Republic of Poland attempted to destroy the union by instituting martial law in 1981, followed by several years of political repression but in the end was forced into negotiation. By the end of August 1989, a Solidarity-led coalition government had been formed, and Wałęsa was elected president in December 1990. This was soon followed by the dismantling of the Communist governmental system and by Poland's transformation into a modern democratic state.

You talk about gladly would cross a picket line which means you never have. I did, the same union I resigned from in 1982 telling them if they called a strike in 83, I would cross it, and they did, I did. 3 week national strike. I would have crossed it again in 86 but my wife and I had our first child two weeks before the strike and my wife had a c section delivery. So I stayed home.
