wuhan was also studying gain of function research on middle east respiratory disease....special interest to israel. 50% fatality rate and also airborne.

if laypeople go down the rabbit hole on this...without inhibition...imagine the conclusions they might reach?

What was the clinical reasoning behind finding it necessary to pursue this gain-of-function?
You don't just ask for millions/billions to support bio-weapons programs, right?

I thought I read about some altruistic rationale that it would further studies on future potential/likely outbreaks.

you can come up with conspiracy theories, but i honestly kinda doubt this was meant to be some bioweapon.

I think israel was genuinely just concerned about this disease in general and how it could possibly mutate.

the scandal, i suppose, is why israel can research stuff that really has no use outside of israel...not that im surprised by that.
