And, while you could illegally make one of these with a bench grinder and a drill, none of you would ever likely be able to figure out how to "make it work". Question is, do any of you gun nuts know which gun this is for? And, how can it be installed into a modified receiver if machine guns can't be manufactured (for civilian ownership) after 1984?
Hint - this is a tricky one to answer.
It's not like I needed to look up what this sear is for. I already know about this - I just had to find a photo of it. Come on, take a guess! About all that can happen to you is you might be wrong and I might chuckle, or cry indifferently or something like that.
That is actually an interesting guess. Technically, such a device (and there are such devices) would be called an "auto-reset", which would automatically reset the trigger after bumpfiring. But, no, this has nothing to do with bump stocks. It is a genuine, registered machine gun.omh » 24 Jun 2022, 8:53 am » wrote: ↑ Strictly a guess, must work relative to a bump stock style of configuration using recoil to when stock moves back forward from actions from springs pushing back against recoil.
I couldn't tell you without looking it up.Skans » 24 Jun 2022, 8:40 am » wrote: ↑ This gun part, called an auto-sear, is a legal machine gun, if it was registered pre-1984.

That is not a machine gun, dummy Skans, it is at most a part that allows a rifle to be used as a machine gun.Skans » 24 Jun 2022, 8:40 am » wrote: ↑ This gun part, called an auto-sear, is a legal machine gun, if it was registered pre-1984.

That is NOT a machine gun.
Not even if Jebus himself said so.
Gun culture isn't responsible for murder. Murderers are responsible for murder. Yes, I have children. I have taught them and other children how to shoot. There are, however, children that I refuse to take shooting. Those are the ones who are irresponsible, angry, mean, disrespectful, and obstinate.supraTruth » 24 Jun 2022, 9:19 am » wrote: ↑ Why do u sick son of a bitch gun scum promote a sick gun culture that is responsible for the MURDER of so many innocent children? That most certainly is a machine gun, Dummy Xavier. It is not just a part that allows a rifle to be used as a machine gun.Xavier_Onassis » 24 Jun 2022, 9:21 am » wrote: ↑ That is not a machine gun, dummy Skans, it is at most a part that allows a rifle to be used as a machine gun.

ATF Rul. 2008-1
These =20pxsears were required to be registered in the NFRTR as machineguns because they are parts designed and intended solely and exclusively for use in converting a weapon into a xmachinegun.
Nice find on the AR15 auto-sear. The one I posted about is for an FN FNC. Yes, you can modify the lower receiver by drilling a hole in it to install the registered auto-sear. You can do this in an FNC, because only the FNC upper receivers are the serial numbered part, making the upper receiver the "gun". So ATF will allow mods to the lower receiver to accept the FNC sear.Huey » 24 Jun 2022, 9:23 am » wrote: ↑ 27 CFR 179.11: MEANING OF TERMS
The AR15 auto sear is a machinegun as defined by 26 U.S.C. 5845(b). ATF Rul. 81-4 [Status of ruling: Active] The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has examined an auto sear known by various trade names including “AR15 Auto Sear,” “Drop In Auto Sear,” and “Auto Sear II,” which consists of a sear mounting body, sear, return spring, and pivot pin. The Bureau finds that the single addition of this auto sear to certain AR15 type semiautomatic rifles, manufactured with M16 internal components already installed, will convert such rifles into machineguns. The National Firearms Act, 26 U.S.C. 5845(b), defines “machinegun” to include any combination of parts designed and intended for use in converting a weapon to shoot automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. Consequently, the auto sear is a machinegun as defined by 26 U.S.C. 5845(b). With respect to the machinegun classification of the auto sear under the National Firearms Act, pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 7805(b), this ruling will not be applied to auto sears manufactured before November 1, 1981. Accordingly, auto sears manufactured on or after November 1, 198
