Omar came here when she was eleven. She was brought here by her parents. There is zero reason to assume that Omar does not also love this country. There are many things wrong with this country and she wants to change them. You rightwing assholes want to return to the days of Jim Crow.

It looks like some rich corporate foundation, of which there are many, decided to finance an alternate Somali woman that it could control. Of course, she will have to wear the hijab, despite Cindy's disdain, because without it, she cannot be regarded as a true Somali that respects Somali customs. Think of it like wearing a crucifix pin of necklace, or perhaps a flag pin would be to a Christian fundamentalist candidate.
