I know a good taxidermist who cold stuff that head and mount it, capturing the angry disposition of this beast. He does excellent work. He has been looking for a project like that one for a long time.DeplorablePatriot » 27 Jul 2022, 4:22 pm » wrote: ↑ Speaking of eating hippo meat...Gawd Lordie, NO!

Hippos can be dangerous, they say, but hippos are not meat eaters, as are crocodiles and alligators.
Hippos spend most of their time in water. And after you shoot a hippo, then you have the problem of hoisting the dead hippo out of the water.
Hippos have large heads are are pretty ugly, I doubt that many people would want to hang a hippo head on the wall of their den.

white hunters just never hunt hippos cause of geographic distance. But if they did they would use a gun that can drop it easy.
30.06 easy choice. There is even a specialty big game gun called the z that kills elephants in one shot
my stepfather hunts exotic big game in Africa regularly. Never killed a hippo. I guess there isn't status in that. But all sorts of other stuff.
. Catfish aren't bottom feeders. They're predatory fish like a bass or pike. We catch them regularly trolling for walleye. High up in the water column using moving bait.Neo » 27 Jul 2022, 10:41 am » wrote: ↑ Carp is a bottom feeder like catfish. Good or bad taste is determined by where they live. A pampered carp raised in a coy pond probably tastes pretty decent.
Depends on the species. Yellow bellies and others are scavengers.Squatchman » 28 Jul 2022, 3:43 am » wrote: ↑ . Catfish aren't bottom feeders. They're predatory fish like a bass or pike. We catch them regularly trolling for walleye. High up in the water column using moving bait.
Predators, prey, scavengers. How does that relate to alpha, beta, omega mentalities in one species?Neo » 28 Jul 2022, 7:03 am » wrote: ↑ Depends on the species. Yellow bellies and others are scavengers.
