Elon Musk has the largest net worth in the world. How can he be richer than Jeff Bezos? Shouldn't there be more revenue from Amazon? I spend at least 100 dollars a month on the site and I don't even have a decent amount of money. Tesla is also six times a valuable in market cap than GM and Ford combined. Who owns a Tesla? I might have seen three in the past decade. Can anyone enlighten me? Where is all this investment coming from?

Tesla gets most of it's profit from green credits, not the cars themselves. They sell those credits to other automakers. Elon would be nothing if it wasn't for the taxpayers. Tesla only survived because of the bailout in 2008/2009. Space X has most of it's contracts with NASA. He is wealthy because of the taxpayers. That's it.

So basically you're telling me he is running a scheme to pollute the environment and getting paid by the taxpayers to do it? I think him owning Twitter would be a bad idea.

i dont actually care, but it seems to me that you have a warped view of how people make money in this country.

i myself have made a lot of money from basically nothing. our system supports that.

It's probably all tied up in his Space X and Tesla shares. Net worth is not the same as how much wealth you have to spend.

FYI...wealth and money are completely different things and are not interchangeable terms.

A person can be the wealthiest person on the planet and not have the money on him to buy a pack of gum.

That is the meaning of net worth. You might have a lot on paper but it might also be tied up in investments. I hope I made that distinction.

Musk has a current net worth of $250.7B. But he's trying to slither, squirm, and snivel his way out of the Twitter deal because he doesn't have the cash to cover the $44B negotiated, and he's going to have to sell that $44B of Tesla stock at a 25% reduction in value since March.

Is he a comparable sociopathic grifter to Trump?  Only because he has so much wealth.  Trump made whatever comparably small time money he has by weaponizing our legal systems to rip off and bankrupt sub contractors, architects, piano dealers, and catering companies.

Before I went back to grad school to finish my social work degree, I was in the plastic container distributing business. Mostly in the automotive industry.  I once sold a 53 ft. truckload of 12 OZ. power steering/break fluid bottles to this crook asshole who just turned around and refused to pay.  "Sue me.", the cocksucker says to me, just like Trump said to the old man who sold him the $100,000 worth of grand pianos for the Atlantic City Taj Mahal. 

It would have cost more to sue him than what he owed us, so...my best friend from the neighborhood's old man was a big time outfit loan shark.  "Juice man" these guys were called in Chicago.  "Better you should have cancer than be on the juice."  I told him I would sell him the paper for a buck, but that I didn't ever want to know how it worked out.  An early intervention when the debt wasn't paid was being kneecapped with a ball peen hammer.  Anyway...that was the deal.  I do not know what happened after that.

I suggest that the Wikipedia article on Elon Musk would be more complete and more accurate regarding how Musk managed to make so much money.
