Not at all. Docs prescribe generic routinely. Do you have any idea how many Americans are uninsured or under-insured?
Look, doctors for the most part are "in on it" - shills for pharma. Drug pushers. But there is no upside to killing your patients by prescribing meds they cannot afford. Squeezing is one thing - squeezing to death is another. And then there are the docs who AREN'T in on it.
No, generics play an enormous role - and that shark tank *** is just good with PR. He isn't our friend and he isn't thumbing ANYONE'S nose. He's fingering our asses and getting us to say thank you.

when drugs go off patent, there are plenty of companies who will replicate a formula for a generic. Walter White can't do it for less at home.

There has to be quite a few chemists and chemical engineers out there who could find a way to manufacture some of these meds on their own, then sell it for a reasonable cost on the dark web or another black market. I am just saying, if I had a child that needed a lifesaving treatment, but the cost was ridiculous, then I would not have any issue cooking the medication myself if I had the ability.
