There were actually at least three.  If Japan did not surrender after the first two the third would have been used.

Patton's statement was incorrect. Nazis were already defeated at Stalingrad in January 1943. So the aim of US invasion was to prevent USSR from occupying the whole of the Europe.

Everything is Trump politics to idiots like you.  The politics of the 1940's were nothing like the politics of today.  It didn't matter which party was in power or who was specifically running things to Patton.  He despised all politicians, regardless of party.  Patton never said, "Politicians are the lowest form of life on earth. Liberal Democrats are the lowest form of politicians."  He may have said the first part but he never said the second part.

third was fired off testing wasn't it before sending the other two to be used. If I remember the argument in history at the time some scientist of that period thought it would scorch the sky and end all life in this atmosphere because the chain reaction wouldn't be limited to just the location it went off. Why it was called a doomsday device.
