It is very hard to quit smoking. Menthol makes smoking tobacco more pleasant.
Making it LESS pleasant would statistically make it easier for menthol tobacco smokers to quit.
Smoking wouldn't be as Kool.
I do not think this is dumb at all.
If the goal is to help people live longer and in better health, then why not do so?
No one is advocating banning Vicks Vaporub or Mentholatum.

I admitted to my doctor I was a smoker and the insurance company saw it on the questionnaire and informed me it wouldn't pay for shoulder surgery.
 In order to get coverage I had to quit smoking for 30 days and they tested me to make sure.
 I cheated their test but still had to wait 30 extra days to take it. I smoked on the way to the test.

I disagree with the smokers ban. I quit 3 years ago, but I still feel like it’s a question of freedom. Smoking outside during a break should not be a deal breaker for employment IMO, unless you work for a cancer treatment or respiratory therapy clinic.

According to *** and select craven women, it's hard to quit dick. Despite the heath risks associated with homosexuality, some just can't go without their morning cock in the ***. Homosexuals have a reduced lifespan compared to their heterosexual counterparts and we know they recruit others into their dangerous habit. In the name of health and longevity, should we ban male on male sex? How about anal sex? Women won't miss it. No one is advocating banning sex in general.

Same. Smoked for 25 years, finally managed to quit using ecigs. At the behest of big tobacco and big pharmaceutical, those miraculous devices are under coordinated assault. Seeing this effort first hand cost me a lot of faith in government and society in general. The reaction to rona was the cherry on top.

You must be from the 1950s.  Testing for tobacco is common and even standard.
