The same is true for NATO.

I don't. Western media promotes a low population state in Ukraine as a center of resistance. Interviews conducted from leaders boasting about their capabilities, adventures, and nato support. Region news goes viral, millions of followers watch this underdog taking it to the cancerous bear. Region reduced to polluted ash overnight.  It's possible.

How many more days do you really have on this planet until your life is painful and miserable?  You aren't going to live forever.  So, in the grand scheme of things, what's a little Nuclear War?  You do know that Mankind is just going to have to **** around and find out, don't you.  Its going to happen - I saw it in the movies.

More concerned for others that haven't had as long of life as I. My concern is selfless, I live close enough to high value military targets that I likely wouldn't suffer when the bombs drop.

If you live inside of a city, you're screwed.  Yes, in a Nuclear war, Urbanites will be incinerated.   However, only those living inside of a 10 mile radius.  In fact, those living just 50 miles from a large city would be completely spared and wouldn't suffer even any bad radiation effects.

So, most of Middle America would be spared.  Unless you live right in a big city, there really is nothing to worry about when it comes to a nuclear war.

It all depends on a number of factors.  Whether it is an airburst or ground burst.  How big it is.  Which way the wind blows.  You may survive the initial blast but the radiation if blown your way will get you.

The radiation might eventually get you.  If you are a young female child, that could be a problem.  But, for most adults, they might just get a little cancer is all.  "Dead at age 86 from radiation induced cancer".  Ok, who really gives a crap?

Well, even if you are just outside the blast zone if the wind is blowing your way you are looking at death in the short term

I like where I live.  And I am dead righ away.  I live about 7 air miles from the largest naval base in the world

I'll go down into  the basement-duck tape up all the air leaks.. Probably freeze to death before the radiation gets to me.

We did at one time have a booming Limestone Airforce base.  but I think it got defunded.
I rode by Stevens Kings house... creepy. he used to live in Bangor.

Poor **** hasn't written a compelling narrative novel since The Stand. Occasionally has a good short story but his novels have never attained the heights he reached decades ago.

Well, let's just say that you don't like any of his books, the ones he wrote when not drunk and high.  Of course, there was IT, The Dark Tower series, and others. Someone liked them, because they bought 'em.

There's always Libertarian, Dean Koontz (gag me with a vaginal speculum).

It was decent, not great. Dark tower was an interesting read, not nearly as entertaining as talisman.  Koontz had some fun reads but I don't consider him a great author. King was great and largely before he sobered up.

Personally, I can't stand Koontz.  Koontz reminds me of a retarded clone of King where something went horribly wrong.

Koontz always struck me as a dollar store King long before dollar stores were a thing. Kings short story game remains solid. His novels? IT was passible but really nothing more than a cobbled together body/stand and any of a number of works that have adults going toe to toe with the big bad. I like King overall, his short stories are always worth a read. Favorites being The Stand and Talisman. Talisman is being adapted for screen by the folks that did stranger things. Can't wait !!
