I’m reading an article and come across this quote.

I honestly cannot begin to understand how someone could have this mindset. And I’m a person that, even if I disagree with you, I can understand where you are coming from.

I can’t explain why people think this way. Please explain. Because to me this mindset is the thing that is unhinged and dangerous.

“The country has a political virus by the name of Donald Trump,” said Jablonsky, a retired music professor from Stamford, Connecticut. “We have a man who is psychotic and seems to have no concern for law and order and democracy. The Republican Party has gone to a place that is so unattractive and so dangerous, this coming election in November could be the last election we ever have.”

I'm not a leftist, but I know the answer to your question.  It's simply because Leftists are afraid to lose their grip on Congress in the upcoming election cycle.  Always remember:
  • Leftists are addicted to power
  • Leftists will do and say anything to feed their addiction
  • Leftists are scared to death of losing power - tantamount to a heavy Fentanyl junkie losing all source of obtaining the drug.
  • Just like a Junkie facing the prospect of withdraw, a Leftist will lie, cheat, steal, murder, abuse power, even kill their own children to thwart any attempt to dethrone them.

That professor is the one with the problem. He's projecting either out of ignorance or dishonesty.

I saw the same rhetoric on the right about Obama.  I don't see how partisan politics is any less stupid on one side or the other

Except in Obama's case it was true.

This is an accurate summary of Trump, a man who has never cared for anything other than his own fame & fortune.
Trump and his GOP henchmen would prefer elections of the sort that Putin has in Russia. Trump OPPOSES democracy, and supports rule by oligarchs and their lickspittles, brownnosers, suckups and yesmen.

the president is a lightning rod for hate, a scapegoat to distract the public from the real rulers.  That is by far the most important role of POTUS since before Obama.

When I see the bandwidth wasted on this forum endlessly talking about Trump or Biden, it's like watching retards devoted to studying 80s TV sitcoms for years on end,  or some other useless pursuit.

Most of the MSM defends democrats. With all we now know about the last several years is the establishment wants to destroy Trump, because if they destroy Trump it will deliver the rest to the swamp.

Neither did Trump.

What the dems did do was incite that kind of stuff in multiple blue cities.

Any comments on Igor Danchenko being in bed with the dems and their FBI.    There's more to come for you to deny.    ;)

Trump wants to destroy "the Swamp" because it is not HIS Swamp.
He wants to replace it with a Trumpian Swamp that will allow him to steal, cheat and swindle with total impunity.
He thinks that he can retain control and look like a leader if he clobbers Blacks and Latinos, Democrats and "Rinos" on a regular basis.\And you right wing nut jobs would absolutely LOVE it.

It is an election year.  They have nothing to run on so they have to attack trump.  That is why the Dem super pacts are attacking electable moderate pubs in primaries in support of MAGA or candidates that support trump.  They think they can defeat them in elections in November,

Happened in NH the other day.
Between the lines: Democratic super PACs also intervened in two of these three Republican primaries, attacking Morse in the Senate race and boosting Burns.
  • Their money likely made a difference in hurting the GOP's prospects, given the narrow margins in both contests.
The bottom line: Former President Donald Trump didn't endorse in any of these races. That shows that even without Trump's involvement, the energy within the Republican Party is squarely against the establishment.

"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," McConnell said shortly after the 57-43 Senate vote that ended in the former president's acquittal.

You avoided even trying to contradict the professor's observations.

The Democrats have  a LOT to run on:  lowering drug prices for people on Medicare and Medicaid, assisting the country in cutting to usage of energy from fossil fuels,  Rebuilding the infrastructure, seeing to it that everyone eligible to vote, can vote, supporting our NATO allies in maintaining an independent Ukraine, effecting policies to lower climate change .

The GOP has nothing to offer. The Wall will never be built and would not work if it were, and bitching about  how the free and fair election of 2020 was rigged.  And, of course, putting Trump in the White House where he can commit any goddamned crime he wants and get away with it.

I don’t care about his observations other than the fact it is an election year and the dems are making this about trump.  Not issues.
