He thought he could weasel out of an embarrassing corner by7 admitting that there are only two genders - well, he said three, but the point is, he has washed his hands of the 1000 gender club. But it leaves him with an enormous problem Because by admitting that gender is the same as sex, he has NOW admitted that any claim about gender is in fact a claim about sex.
By admitting to that, he is admitting that hard science governs this issue. Any gender claim is now - based on his admission - a sex claim.
