Part 1/2

[In some imaginary space station]

Alien:
Greetings human. There's so much about "your kind" that fascinates me, I hardly even know where to begin.

Me: I won't contradict you there...heh. Where shall we begin?

Alien: I would like to learn about the phenomenon known as "mental illness." It seems you humans, at least in more "civilized" geographies, have seen an explosion in cases over the past 5-8 decades.

Me: Well I could discuss this subject for the rest of my life and not dissect every little ligament there is...but the simplistic explanation is that chronic stress, which can be exogenous (by other people/outside events) or endogenous (self-inflicted messaging/harm) can cause a breakdown in the human psyche.

This breakdown can manifest in various conditions that fall under an umbrella known as "mental illness." There are many such labels for each supposed "mental illness."

Alien: Labelled by whom?

Me: The 2 APAs...American Psychiatric Association that publishes the DSM (a diagnostic manual) + American Psychological Association. You could also throw in other groups like NAMI + the WHO which also works indirectly with national "mental health organizations." Each country has their own authorities on the matter.

Alien: Do you trust them?

Me: No, not really.

Alien: Is there a reason?

Me: It's a deep rabbit hole so I won't get into too many details...but those like myself (and those more intelligent than I) have noticed that the growth of these associations tends to coincide with the explosion of the same conditions that said groups purport to "study" and eventually "fix."

The same can be said of groups designated for other causes like the NCI (National Cancer Institute), the AHA (American Heart Association), etc.

Billions of dollars get funneled to these groups, collectively, every year...I ASSUME they don't want the gravy train to stop delivering "the goods."

Alien: You think the organizations are making these terms up?

Me: I believe "mental illness" as a concept is perfectly valid.

In ages past, people would often undergo episodes of mental illness whenever some traumatic event occurred...like seeing their neighborhoods destroyed in war/their friends or family dead. This is undeniable.

Today is a bit different, so it's hard to say which labels are true/made up fiction.

Alien: OK, so why would these organizations make up all these terms? Is there a motive?

Me: Very likely.

The vast majority of human beings are a bunch of sheep. One way to confuse the sheep, or to assert your authority on a matter, is to insert "jargon," or language specific to a field or profession that outsiders are unaware of. These labels are "jargon"...thereafter the sheep can applaud you for your pseudo-intellectualism.

The financial industry in particular is notorious for "jargon"...when all they do is shuffle some money around and take a cut ("slice") out of every transaction.

To give you an example of the stupidity of humans, one of the celebrity billionaires, Elon Musk, talked about a "hyperloop" for many years. It's a patently stupid idea where some underground tunnel would enable "privileged/special" people (like Musk himself, to nobody's surprise) to travel between/within cities at a fraction of the time required to board a private helicopter/plane that would accomplish the same goal...

...and of course such a lavish project would be financed by taxpayer dollars. (Coincidence I'm sure)

Musk may as well be a genius...at least when it comes to deceiving the sheep and pulling the wool over their eyes (no pun intended).

Alien: You don't seem to have a high opinion of most humans.

Me: That's putting it lightly, but no, not really.

Part 2/2

Alien: What's your take on mental illness? Is there some "solution?"

Me: Society will always have a subset of people who are "mentally ill," but I do not believe current rates of "mental illness" are anywhere close to "natural."

"Psychological stress" is a catch-all term...and the unfortunate aspect is there are thousands of plausible causes. There is no one-size-fits-all; each case should be examined carefully before some kind of implemented solution is devised.

Some mental illnesses are caused by physical factors like deficiencies in Vitamin D3, Vitamin B-12, etc. Our "medical professionals" (courtesy of Rockefeller style medicine to push pills on a stupid/ignorant public) are dissuaded or kept in the dark.

While there is no panacea, some techniques can alleviate mental illness while the person in question tries to "get to the bottom of the issue."

Yoga, being out on some beach in the tropics...some psychedelics can help with mental illnesses (although they are illegal...likely due to lobbying by the companies that produce psychotropic medications + corrupt politicians).

Alien: There are professionals dedicated to "treating" mental illness?

Me: Yes.

Alien: Your take on them?

Me: I'd say a small % (maybe like 10%) are truly valuable...

You get assistance the old fashioned way via "talk therapy" (CBT / DBT) although that can be expensive ranging from $100/hr to $600/hr.

Alien: $600/hr?

Me: Yes, believe it or not...in many relatively wealthy counties where plenty of families make > $300K/yr, some counselors will charge $600/hr. I cannot vouch for their effectiveness...since I have never used their (or any counselor's) services. Nor do I need them lol.

I don't write off "shrinks" but it can be hard to find a good one, and even good ones don't guarantee desirable results.

Then you have the "pill pushers" aka psychiatrists...because "chemical imbalances in the brain" cause depression. Or w/e.

It seems The Science™ comes up with a new explanation every so often. You see, if "they" don't come up with "new scientific breakthroughs" every now and then, they can no longer sustain the façade that they are "making progress" on The Science™. And even the most stupid of people might wonder where "the money" is going

Alien: Lots of moolah to be made?

Me: Indeed

Alien: By the way, you mentioned the current rates of mental illness are "unnatural?"

Me: Yeah. Traditional societies have very low rates of mental illness.

I would daresay many of the factors that contribute to "mental illness" are carefully manufactured to produce this exact outcome (i.e. get people on pills/pay exorbitant rates for "counseling"/keep people in a state of constant psychological distress, although profit is not the primary goal - just the icing on top of the cake).

Whatever "their" goals are - after creating a maelstrom of mental illness - well, we can only theorize.

Alien: Assuming what you say is true, or is approximate to the truth - this was all carefully calculated - I have to say it's a stroke of brilliancy!

Me: Yes, I think so too. Pulling off something of this scale would require immense planning...and you have to give some credit to those who succeeded in making it happen (as perverse as it sounds...heh)

But don't tell the normies (95%+ of humans). If you repeat what I say, they will accuse you of being a "conspiracy theorist."

Alien: Well, speaking to you is giving me the blues...I think I need to hang around "happy go lucky" types before I myself become "mentally ill."

Me: That's a good idea. I approve!

Posting hyperbole doesn't resolve anything creating eternal conflicting interpretations how living should evolve by choice, not genetic timing of displacements, among a single species divided by concepts of thoughts played out ancestrally forward since dawn of civilization.

If you're at all interested in having an intelligent discussion about "mental illness", and not just spewing some ideologically loaded **** aimed at the professional mental health community...just let me know.  For instance...

Traditional societies do not have lower rates of mental illness, particularly in the endogenous, genetically driven disorders like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depressive illness.  What traditional societies tend to have different ways of treating the mentally ill among them.  But those in traditional cultures also have a much lower likelihood of seeking treatment, as treatment often addresses issues that minority traditional societies do not want interfered with by anyone from outside their own culture.

You do what so many others do...you have this thing you want to call "mental illness" and you want to jam every condition and disorder into a single "mental illness" category.  You can't do it...and there have to be descriptive labels for various conditions that allow for discussion and treatment of those conditions.

I'm here.

You are there, not here. you think beyond what here is in real time actual occupying space, evolving as equally just another reproduction pretending to be on a higher place plane of evolution.

The consensus of like minded people never applying their own brain to navigating space mutually timed apart now will stay on your path of never accepting real time your body never exceeds being eternally separated self contained to the moment here like the rest of the universe outside your flesh occupies space as well.

that is currently running 7,999.999.999 to me. I am the odd one in touch with actual evolving.

No, outside their own culture.  More like they don't want inference from government.  But marxists like you despise family, so you invoke government.  Witness involuntary commitments to hospitals.
