Alec Baldwin will be criminally charged in connection with the “Rust” shooting that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead, prosecutors said Thursday.

New Mexico prosecutors will charge Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed with two federal counts of involuntary manslaughter over the death of Hutchins on the “Rust” film set in October 2021, when a real bullet was loaded into a prop gun.

Assistant director David Halls, who handed Baldwin the loaded gun, accepted a misdemeanor charge in a plea deal.

“If any one of these three people — Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed or David Halls — had done their job, Halyna Hutchins would be alive today. It’s that simple,” special prosecutor Andrea Reeb said.

There's NO reason a live round should have been on the set.   I took hunter's safety when I was 12 years old..."treat every gun as if it's loaded...and point it down and away from people".

The gun should have only been ready to use just before the scene was shot...even then check the gun to make sure it's only a blank round. This demonstrates that Alec runs on smart *** ego and not smarts.

I had read back when this happened that some of the crew had been using several of the firearms on the set for target practice before filming started for the day.

I agree that live rounds should have never been on the set period, let alone being fired through the "prop" guns that were about to be used by the actors.

The armorer was an idiot for ever allowing that **** on the set in the first place.

Apparently, she texted the producer that dangerous things were happening. It will be for a jury to decide whether she had BOTH the duty AND the ability to prevent it.

The prosecutor appears to believe that was the case.

Alec Baldwin was one of the producers!

I'm pretty sure the armorer was the daughter of a career stuntman/armorer who was well known and respected in Hollywood. A couple of stories I read said that she seemed to be in over her head on this particular project, and never felt good about how it was going.

She was fairly new to the business. Not a good scenario at all. I'm sure that Baldwin was a bit of a hard *** too, so she probably felt a bit intimidated also.

I also read that they plan to finish the movie this Spring. Not sure how that will work out if Baldwin is in prison though.

Well, and when we look back to the days & weeks after Daddy Dearest Alec smoked his cinematographer, the asshole didn't do himself any favours or garner much sympathy with his big mouth, and bizarre behaviour...

His impromptu roadside interview when he pulled over after being followed by Press only demonstrated he could do a worse job defending himself than Darrell Brooks did --- though it was amusing watching him slapping down his  imbalanced wife Seniora Hilaria when she tried to chime in...
Then there was his waterlogged performance in his interview by George Stuffinenvelopes, where he was again playing the role of an attorney in attempt to paint a defense for himself (and no one else), but only demonstrating what a narcissistic scumbag in self-survival mode looks like..

Looking forward to seeing his Mugshot.... Within hours of its posting, someone will already be making money putting it on T-Shirts with all kinds of cool captions...

They keep calling it a "prop" gun. Hmmmm. A bunch of people were shooting that "prop" gun in the desert the day before. It was a REAL gun that shoots either blanks, or LIVE rounds. At close range a blank can do harm and possibly kill.

Yes...not only did they know there had been live rounds the day before...a blank round can kill or harm too.

Years ago a young actor held a gun with a blank to his head as a joke and he killed himself.

I think Alec and the other person should get prison time for being very careless.

A "blank" killed Brandon Lee supposedly.

The police determined that the tip from a dummy round that had previously been in the gun had broken off and become lodged in the barrel, and the powder charge from the blank pushed it on out of the barrel and hit Lee.

That's the official report anyway.

This **** only happens when liberals handle guns on set. Never happened on the set of any Clint Eastwood, John Wayne or Mel Gibson movie.

                  Agreed,
I got my first Gun at age 12, a Single Shot 410 Winchester Breech-Loader.. Shooting was a family activity, and although Dad was a competition shooter and had a Federal Firearms License, we still took the training / safety course at the Range by a certified instructor..

Even if you've never had a class or watched any Western, you know that pulling the trigger will discharge the weapon.. Supposedly the scene Baldwin was rehearsing to not call for the Gun to be fired at all, yet he did it anyway.. Then he lied saying it fired without his touching the trigger, highly unlikely with a single action revolver.. He deviated from the script, and did not follow basic safety protocol..

interesting how this is a political topic. It is not but in today's world... everything is political. The dog down the street barking at 230 am is proof that some politician either failed or is conspiring against me.
