The 117th Congress reversed a century of precedent which allowed the minority party to select from its ranks those members who would sit on committees.

The 118th Congress is respecting the rule change - and the folks who changed the rules are HOWLING.

They were warned. Objections were made. They persisted.

Let's look back:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congre ... s-n1284094
McCarthy argued that the precedent set by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. — allowing members of the minority to be removed from committees by votes of the majority — could subject Democrats to similar punishments in a Republican-led House. All hold highly sought committee assignments: Swalwell on Intelligence, Omar on Foreign Affairs and Jeffries on Judiciary.

"What they have started cannot be easily undone. Their actions today, and the past, have forever changed the way the House operates," McCarthy said on the House floor. "And furthermore, it means under the Pelosi precedent, all the members that I have mentioned earlier (Swalwell, Omar, and Schiff) will need the approval of a majority to keep those positions in the future.

"This body has suffered greatly. And the new standard will continue to be applied in the future," he said, without defending or condemning Gosar.
Swalwell - OFF. Omar - OFF. Schiff - OFF. They CAN get on committees. Just not the plum committees that they WERE on, when they changed the rules.

It is rumored the Committee to name Post Offices and Bridges is open, if any of those clowns are looking for a new power base.

Excellent video. It's things we already knew, but it's good to see it laid out in an organized fashion for those who are willing to see the truth.

Should be interesting to see how McCarthy proceeds.

For years we've been ruled by spoiled brats.  I hope there will be historic changes going forward.

Marjorie Taylor Green on Homeland Security is a joke. Is she going to make firearm ownership mandatory for white christians?

And how does anyone trust George Santos's ability to make sound decisions?

The holdouts seem to be setting the agenda - or at least affecting it.

Just another symptom of our dysfunctional leadership. A handful of holdouts are pushing a poor agenda that doesn't include compromise.

The 118th congress will get vry little done with the merry band of harsh conservatives holding things up.

"Poor" from your perspective. Half the nation is behind that "handful of holdouts."

That's politics. You may or may not remember that Joe Lieberman - ONE DEMOCRAT - decided that the USA would not have medicare for all, and instead we got obamacare, which was written by insurance industry lobbyists.

I doubt the 118th congress will be any more partisan tha the 117th - indeed, I cannot imagine how they could.

Democrats hate it when they are forced to play by their own rules.

Schitt, Swallowell, and the raghead we're all crying yesterday about how the mean Republicans are "destroying Democracy" by kicking them off their committees... when they did the same damn thing themselves in the last Congress.

What's even more pathetic than the Dems crying about it now is just how many of the idiot sheeple will line right up behind them and nod along in agreement.

[i sense a lot of republican puppet-$uckers here will want to move along to tranny bathroom policy, puppet trump vs. puppet biden, etc. circuses and bread puppetry galore....]       :die:

Oh, the Democrats HAD to know this was coming.  In fact, they did know it.  The fake outrage is just more Hollywood-imagineered theatrics on the part of the Dems.

After watching what the dems did in the last 2 years, I am looking forward to "very little getting done".
