That isn't the point. It's about the cost that our lifestyle to the healthcare system. I don't give a **** who pays. The insurance. The hospitals. Aliens from outer space. God. I don't **** care. 

The fact remains that it's our lifestyle that rings up the costs...regardless of who pays.  God man. I am so sick of having to dumb **** down for you progressives.

With the proper form of healthcare those costs would be moot. 

See, cum drain, those nations where healthcare is accessible for everyone are also the healthier nations bcuz their healthcare systems promote healthy lifestyles.

Precisely correct. But if you thin out the "diversity," you can still have a functional nation - even government health care. But as soon as you pube it up with "diversity," that possibility goes south.

What your author tortured the math into saying, pre-George W, is terribly interesting. It's ironic to me that the author BEGINS his statistical three card monte presentation quoting Benjamin Disraeli regarding lies, damned lies and statistics. Let me give you an example of his flawed thinking, early in the article:

If you really want to measure health outcomes, the best way to do it is at the point of medical intervention. If you have a heart attack, how long do you live in the U.S. vs. another country? If you’re diagnosed with breast cancer?

Here's a subversive notion: What if we focused on how many people were HAVING heart attacks and HAVING breast cancer?

I think if you have MORE BREAST CANCER, then you SHOULD have better outcomes than in a country where proper early intervention keeps breast cancer rare. And I FURTHER think that if you have MORE BREAST CANCER after spending a trillion **** dollars pretending to fight it, then you have a corrupt, bloated, nonresponsive medical industrial complex that needs serious intervention.

If you have MORE HEART ATTACKS - notwithstanding spending more to study heart attacks (and pretend to prevent them) than the next ten countries combined, - then your medical system is operating like a **** Ponzi scheme on one end and a MASH unit on the other, and you damned betcha some expertise in treating heart attacks will accrue. Whooptie **** doo. 

The problem with thinking, "Shazam! This PROVES itI" is  that your 20-plus year old link to 24 year old information doesn't even address the pertinent issues. It cherry picks the wrong ones,focusing our eyes on confetti and shiny new dollars like midway rubes. We are spending more and getting less. The pre-turn-of-the-century oldsters whose life expectancy your link measures on OUR side of the pond were vegetating in comas with meskins cleaning their asses at predetermined intervals. The oldsters measured over yonder were participating in yodeling competitions and **** snow bunnies.

Before cherry picking the wrong thing to measure, your author insists the wrong things are being measured, and if we only measure the RIGHT things, we win. But who is "we" in the "we" win? It's not the people staring at the ceiling in old folks homes, debilitated and discarded. It's not the people suffering preventable cancers and heart attacks - whether they squeeze-out an extra six months of illness and debilitation or not. It's the money boys. It's the corrupt system that your link whistles past.

Here is a perfectly lovely example of what's wrong with your link's analysis:

U-S-A! U-S-A! What's just as interesting is that Japan, the country that tops the overall life expectancy tables, finished in the middle of the pack on cancer survival.

What the boast implictly acknowledges is that we have a cancer problem - in spite of spending more money than half the world on "research." After all, Japan is worse at treating it than we are - but they still live longer than we do.

If you take out cancer, Japan beats us even worse. 
If you take out murder, Guatemala beats us. 
If you take out rectal hemorrhaging, San Franciscans live longer than Houstonians. 

You can sit here and pretend the victims of cancer are to blame. "They need to get off their asses. They need to put down the cheetos." But whatever is causing the cancer problem in the USA, we've spent enough billions on research that we can now acknowledge that we have been mugged by the medical industrial complex.
