Nope, it's not the federal government's job to build a social safety net for its peasants. You make the mistake of thinking social security is a savings account it is not it is insurance. How about the option to make each SS account individual & private? Optional.
And, that account could pass to your children when you die.
Wouldn't you like to leave your children a million dollar SS account ? (I would).

What is the modern replacement for a kamikaze: an UNMANNED DRONE.
You can probably take out a carrier costing billions with a couple of well-armed drones and zero casualties.
No pilots to train, no widows and orphans to support.
Aircraft carriers are very expensive,and obsolete.

Social security is actually quite sustainable. In fact, it's paid for. There's an enormous trust fund.
The war in Ukraine, not so much. It's not paid for. It's not our war. And there's an enormous and justifiable lack of trust.
