Haven't you heard the list of lay offs? Heard today -Ebay too... expects a recession. Amazon- high tech.... all of them laying off. so many i cant remember..Monderegal » 08 Feb 2023, 11:55 am » wrote: ↑ I didn't watch the entire SOTU but I saw that Biden made a lot of references to the economy. At best, the economy itself is a mixed picture. The question is what happens if the business cycle turns into a larger recession? Some economists are already predicting just that due to the inverted yield curve along with dimensioning profit margins. Is it a good bet to talk about the economy? A President can't really change the larger economy other than fiscal spending which hires people directly from the taxpayers. Biden has introduced several spending packages that do just that. Any thoughts?
I've heard about the tech layoffs. Still, unemployment is at a 50 year low. Two things there. Can you really blame Biden? Also, what if the economy goes into a correction? Some economists are predicting that.sootedupCyndi » 08 Feb 2023, 12:18 pm » wrote: ↑ Haven't you heard the list of lay offs? Heard today -Ebay too... expects a recession. When a company decides to HIRE people,it does so quietly, because more employees means a bigger payroll and the shareholders and their automated trading machines will sell. Bad for the execs that own shares.sootedupCyndi » 08 Feb 2023, 12:18 pm » wrote: ↑ Haven't you heard the list of lay offs? Heard today -Ebay too... expects a recession. I really think it was the perfect storm... The covid first- Everyone got fired- locked down. Then that created the supply chain shortage. Biden shut off the oil.. over spending- that escalated everything.. inflation- fed steps in- raises rates..Monderegal » 08 Feb 2023, 1:11 pm » wrote: ↑ I've heard about the tech layoffs. When a company lays off people, the reverse happens. So they announce it loudly. They have no legal obligation to lay off as many as they announced if it turns out that they cannot get the work done with so few workers. They can always rehire. When large layoffs are announced, there will be employees that will quit and seek more stable jobs elsewhere.
That's because the law often requires notice be given, and those notices always make it to the press.Xavier_Onassis » 08 Feb 2023, 1:18 pm » wrote: ↑ When a company lays off people, the reverse happens. Deserves a repost.
Why "or"?Xavier_Onassis » 08 Feb 2023, 12:02 pm » wrote: ↑ Biden proposed tax increases to pay for additional expenditures. This country would be greatly improved by the programs Biden proposes.
The economy is NOT doing poorly, and the rate of inflation is slowing. The right wing loonies in this forum think that Biden DELIBERATELY caused inflation. They think that Xi was soooooo afraid of Trump that it would never have dared to use a spy balloon. And Trump was so fearsome that Putin would never have thought about attacking Ukraine. This is because they are brainwashed, stupid,or Russian agents.

Inflation is still around. 6.45%
People continue to have problems buying gas, food, eggs, bacon, and there is still a bably formula shortage in partts of the country ... so what does biden propose??? He calls on even more regulations regarding resort fees, airline fees, bank fees ...
It seems biden and the dems are now focused on the minutiae of American vacations? I guess the dems really do want to micro-manage everything.
What do you think these businesses are going to do .. do you think they will say "OK, we will make less money". lol
The resort will just raise their base rate, the airlines will increase their base fares, banks will increase the interest rates ... to make up for the lost revenue...
In the end biden is just moving the costs around ... besides saving people resort fee while they are spending everything -- just to live ... is NOT helping anyone
Yeah, there are pump and dump schemes. But you were referring to large companies like Meta,Alphabet and Microsoft, and they would not do pump and dumps. As you say, applies and oranges.sootedupCyndi » 08 Feb 2023, 1:30 pm » wrote: ↑ apples and oranges... ha..
I seen these ceos.. Purposely destroy companies. Get a severance- move on to the next similiar company.. Do it again. i have no sympathy for them.. the ol pump and dump scheme.
One time a dude that was an insider trader gave me a site.. i watched it go down. LOL

Funny, it's at a 50 year low but a lot of people don't work or even have a job......you think those numbers may be skewed by folks having to work a second or third job to survive Bidenflation?Still, unemployment is at a 50 year low. Two things there. Can you really blame Biden?
